A few weeks later.....

"Why do we feel like Collin could have gotten more money?" Lucas questions, him sitting on his desk while he throws a ball up in the air.

"Because his gross pay was $55,000 and hourly wage was lower then the salary based job." Dillion mentions.

"Okay but if he chose to do the salary based job then he would have gotten more money then hourly wage." Valerie mentions.

"You do know with salary it is only one set based price? You don't typically have a nine to five and you could work more hours but still get the same amount of pay if you get paid by salary." Dillion says.

"Yes but salary has deemed more successful for people wanting more pay. Hourly maybe based but however most times what you get on a yearly wage for hourly is less than what you get for salary." Valerie mentions.

"Yes but with hourly you can get raises to raise up your yearly wage, salary is different." Dillion mentions.

"Salary can be raised." Valerie says.

"Can not!"

"Can too!"

"Cannot!"

"Can too!"

"Cannot!"

"Okay okay." Lucas laughs while holding the small bouncy ball. "Alright raise your hands if you all think Collin could have gotten paid more with salary?" Lucas questions, half of the class going to raise their hands. "Alright now who thinks he could have gotten paid more with hourly?" He questions, the other half of the class raising their hands. "Alright so fifty fifty, we'll do this debate style. Hourly go to the left while Salary goes to the right of the class." Lucas says, everyone going to get up and go to the appropriate places. "Who's going to represent?"

"Me!" Valerie says, her in the salary group, going to make her way in front of the group.

"Me too!" Dillion says at the hourly group, him making his way in front as well, both of them going to stand in front of a desk, then across from one another.

"Alright, what I want for you both to do is try to convince the other party why salary or hourly is the best pay for Collin. Ready set go!" Lucas says.

"Alright people think about it! Twenty five ninety five an hour compared to his yearly wage through salary! He would have done better choosing hourly in this situation!" Dillion mentions.

"Salary is a more promised job! With hourly it's your typical fast food restaurants or smart phone companies! Yes you can move up easily but the pay only rises by a few bucks! Salary has proven to be better jobs to help boost careers and the better pay." Valerie states.

"But with salary it is a raise once in a live-time! It takes longer to earn that raise and Collin doesn't have time for that." Dillion directs at Valerie.

"How can he not have time for that?" Valerie questions while crossing her arms.

"Because he is a single father with three kids! Homeboy has mouths to feed!" Dillion replies making the whole class laugh, including Lucas. "So yes Salary maybe the better option for career but it is not the best option for our boy Collin seeing as how he needs moolah now."

"But he would want himself to be set based! Looking more into the future for his kids except from day to day!" Valerie mentions.

"Oh I doubt that..."

The class goes on and on on who could be right, some kids becoming convinced and moving to the other party while Dillion and Valerie talk. Lucas just looks at the scene while smiling, loving how engaged the class gets and glad he is able to do that with them.
