The sleep Lucas got after last night was the best sleep he has gotten in a long time. Last night was amazing, it was a night that both of them gave themselves to each other, showed them how much they loved and trust each other.
Lucas feels for Max but he opens her eyes to not see her there. He gets up, his eyebrows furrowed as he looks around the room, not seeing her anywhere around the room.
"Max?" Lucas questions, getting up to look inside of the closet but he just sees his clothes to the left while Max's clothes are to the right. His mind assumes the worst, countless thoughts swirling in his head. He quickly runs to his sweatpants, trying to quickly put one leg inside but he trips on the floor. He quickly gets back up and hurriedly puts on his sweatpants, dashing out of the door.
Please let her be okay, please! Lucas tells himself, his heart beginning to beat faster and faster. He runs down the stairs, finally getting to the bottom and his eyes widen when he sees....
Max and Eleven laughs while they are in the kitchen across the stairs, Eleven being seen putting something in the oven while Max hovers over the stove. It is then that Lucas smells the crisp scent of bacon, the sweet smell of pancakes and the divine smell of eggs. Soft music plays on the radio in the background, both Eleven and Max dancing along to the song while occasionally singing along with it.
"Hey Lucas!" Eleven cheers, waving at him with a big spoon in her hands.
Max turns to Lucas, smiling at him while holding a spatula. "Well the sleepy head decides to wake up." Max jokes. She sees how he breaths a little hard, a almost sigh of relief escaping him. "You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm great." Lucas answers, going to the bar across from them to lean on. "Smells great."
Elevens watch goes off, her looking at the watch and turning it off. "I have to go water the flowers, just keep the bacon in here for just six minutes otherwise the oven will start to smoke." Eleven says.
"Got it." Max says, Eleven going outside to begin watering the flowers.
"We really have to figure out how to fix the oven." Lucas comments while going over to Max.
Max shrugs her shoulders while she leans on the kitchen counter. "It could be worse." She responds simply. "You sure you're okay? You seem kind of...I don't know worried when you came down."
Lucas sighs, coming closer to Max, leaning his hands on the counter, making Max's body be in between the counter and Lucas. "I just woke up and didn't see you. My mind just went a lot of different ways." Lucas admits.
Max strokes his face softly with her hand, she knows exactly what he means, she knows exactly how he felt in that moment of not seeing her. Max had those exact moments when she woke up, trying to feel for Lucas when she couldn't see but didn't feel him. She feared that she was back in Vecna's mind again and she use to scream until Lucas came running back in the room, telling her she is safe and he only just went to the bathroom.
"I'm right here Lucas, I'm okay." Max assures, giving him a soft kiss on his lips.
Lucas smiles, his hands going around Max's waist to hug her. She wraps her arms around him, hugging him back while he slowly rocks her. When they withdraw they both look into each other's eyes, they find that they have been doing that a lot lately. How can they not? This is only the second day that Max is able to see, fully able to see him and she cannot tear her eyes from him, if she could she would look at Lucas all day.
She feels happy then she has ever felt before. Since the hard times are finally over this is the time where they can make new happy memories, memories she will store deep inside of her mind, the good memories to trump out the bad ones, these memories she will keep safe, lock and key, to make sure no one ever corrupts them again.
