The sun was just coming up when I woke up before my alarm. I turned it off and swung my legs over the side of my bed. I looked over and saw Face sleeping there. Considering the way, he typically held his face with a furrowed brow, like he might rip someone's spine out at any second, his relaxed face was comforting, peaceful. I quietly took my clothes and headed to the bathroom. I had a quick shower, wrapped my hair and did my makeup before I got dressed and let down my locks. I gave myself one last look over before I headed to the kitchen. I hesitated, looking for the blood stain that was no doubt left on my brother's tiles. When I couldn't find it, I readied the coffee maker and had a quick cup before I left a note for Face and headed for TM.
Due to the lockdown, TM hadn't really been running, but the lockdown had been lifted. It left the clubhouse eerily quiet. I walked in and saw a few of the guys passed out with bottles in their hands. I headed to the office and turned on the coffeemaker for the boys. I looked at the files of paperwork left on the desk, mom's glasses sitting on top of them. It was a punch to the gut. Through all of this, mom had been the one downplayed the most, but I couldn't help but miss her right now. I wondered where she was, what she was doing and how she was dealing with all of this. I looked at the appointment book knowing I would have to make some calls mid-morning to reschedule the appointments missed during the lockdown.
I put those to the side and a post-it note on them. I looked at the appointments I had, and the bodies to fill them.
The boys started to filter in and I was greeted with a lot of Sorry about Sack. A couple of them called me a badass, knowing what I'd done to protect Abel. These were lower ranking members, some were potential prospects who'd been sniffing around the club. Opie was the first one to arrive that I would call family.
"You're back already" he asked me? He cocked an eyebrow pouring a cup of coffee into his chipped mug.
"Someone has to run this place" My voice still sounded hoarse, but it was an improvement.
"You don't think you should take a minute" he asked me? Opie was almost as much my brother as Jax was and was often the voice of reason for me.
Unfortunately I had no desire to hear reason. "Yeah sitting at home and stewing isn't going to help me" I nodded. "Doesn't bring anyone home. But I can keep this place running so when one of them comes home, they aren't trying to come out from a pile of shit left for them."
"Okay" he nodded examining me. "If you need anything, let me know."
"You know I won't" I replied not looking up from the file in my hand. Shit, Steve Roberts had an appointment today. He was an old friend of moms, and she always got him a discount on parts, charging him cost. I started to crunch the numbers as the gates to TM opened, first time I'd seen that in a while.
Steve of course was there, ready to go. He stepped into my office and looked at me in surprise. "Where's Gemma" he asked?
"Not here" I told him. "Sorry."
"Yeah well, she typically gives me a discount" he scoffed at me.
"Well aware Steve" I nodded. "Just finishing the calculations, here." I finished my work and handed him the paper.
He looked at it and scoffed, "No."
"I'm sorry what?"
"Get Gemma here" He snapped at me.
"She's not available" I snapped back.
"Make her available" He barked at me.
I got to my feet and glared at him. "I would love to. I'll do it as soon as I shit rainbows."
