Chapter 2: New Game File 3

Cheep-Cheep Beach, The Mushroom Kingdom

Sitting on his surfboard in the ocean, Mario reflected on the past few months since Bowser's defeat on July 30th. He also remembered that October marked the anniversary of his relationship with Peach. A lot has happened since Discordia's defeat - the Mushroom World is now connected to the Human World, thanks to a severely damaged warp pipe. Humans and Toads are living together in harmony, and the kingdom is more advanced than ever while still maintaining its traditional appearance.

As they surfed together, Mario couldn't help but admire Peach's stunning appearance. She sported a sleek, pink, and black wetsuit, and had her hair neatly tied up in a ponytail.

"Hi, Mario," she spoke affectionately as she leaned in to give him a gentle kiss on the cheek.

"Hi, Peach." Mario chuckled. "So, you followed me?"

"Yeah, kind of. This is where I go if I want to get a morning surf."

Mario chuckled, his eyes fixed on the beautiful princess. "Do you remember when King Bill exploded and the pipe sucked us all into Brooklyn?" he asked her.

"Yes, I do," she replied.

"Well, during that chaotic moment, I caught glimpses of other universes. In one, I was a doctor, and in another, Rohan was a king. I saw a robot that looked like him, and then I saw Bowser standing at an altar with you walking down the aisle in a stunning wedding dress. Suddenly, I found myself riding a dragon and fighting with other warriors. But then, a giant blue man used a girl to destroy these universes, and everyone I loved was sucked away. And you...you vanished from my life forever," he finished.

Peach looked at him with concern. "Those were just hallucinations, right?" she asked hopefully, "Not some kind of vision of the future...?"

"I totally bet it was just me hallucinating."

"Hopefully..." Peach then gasped and paddled from Mario. "Big wave coming in!"

Mario noticed the wave and followed Peach.

A few hours later at the Toad Village

Peach and Mario strolled down the street accompanied by Rohan and Luigi. They had a blast surfing in the morning. Today, their agenda included meeting up with Mario and Luigi's parents, Alex and Maria, for lunch.

"So, Mario," Peach said. "The Star Festival's tomorrow tonight, so we've got a lot of time to ourselves."

"Oh, the Star Festival." Mario chuckled. "I completely forgot that it was tomorrow. This is the third time we actually participated, right, Luigi?"

"Sure is, Mario," Luigi replied.

"Guess who's gonna be singing a new single with Pauline," Rohan said.

"Wait, Rohan." Peach raised an eyebrow in shock. "You can sing?"

"Yeah. You know that I have a really great voice."

"That's true."

The Star Festival is a festival that is held once every October 5th. The event is that the night shines upon the many kingdoms and stars shall rain down from above, leaving Star Bits on the ground. Peach would describe it as one of the best events of the year. And to be fair, Mario admits that he loves the event too.

The four walked up to Toad Cafe and found Alex and Maria sitting at a table. The two waved for the heroes and they sat down next to them. Alex smiled and said, "I still can't believe that you and Luigi have been in this kingdom for almost three years! And you two are best friends with a gorilla, a little mushroom, and a prince, and also dating princesses!"
