At Dedede's castle hideout - Universe-2028
Dedede set the Dr. Mario trophy down next to the trophies of Luigi and Ness. The king chuckled and took out two golden badges shaped just like his face. "That could've gone better. Well, at least, I have you three."
He put a badge on Ness' shirt, another on Luigi's nose, and turned to Dr. Mario, only to find out that he didn't have any badges left. He looked down on his own badge and sighed. "Looks like I'm gonna have to make more badges soon..." he then removed his badge and put it on Dr. Mario's shoulder. "...You're gonna need it more than I will."
Dedede let out a deep sigh as he gazed upon his trophies and felt a sense of contentment. Suddenly, he heard a rumbling sound and looked up just in time to see the castle roof collapsing. Despite his instinct to flee, he was struck by a falling block and lost consciousness. The roof crumbled and covered the room in debris as Bowser arrived in his Clown Car along with his Primid minions.
"Where is he...?" Bowser asked.
A Primid looked around and said, "We're not able to find anyone here. Still no sign of King Dedede."
"Well, keep looking!" Bowser looked and saw the entrance of a cave near the castle. "...Hmm..." he grinned. "...Maybe Luigi is here...and that means Mario'll come right for his brother. Set an Amaranthine gas trap in the cave. I want him to suffer."
At the Subspace
Ganondorf smirked as the fake Subspace Bomb he used to capture one of our heroes appeared. The two Primids beside him walked over to the bomb. He walked over to a computer and pressed a button to open the fake bomb. "Finally...Sonic the Hedgehog...You're finally mine. Now, you'll be an instrument to the heroes' destruction."
"Uh, how come he's not blue?" a Primid asked.
"What?!?" Ganondorf turned to see Tails in the bomb. He growled and yelled, "YOU INCOMPETENT FOOLS!! I KNEW I SHOULD'VE SENT A FEW R.O.B.S TO CAPTURE THE BLUE RODENT!!!" he calmed down and looked at Tails. "However, I can use you as bait..."
Meanwhile at Universe-4500
The Comet Observatory kept flying and following the oil trail left by Dedede's stolen car. Rosalina kept steering the ship and Mario and Sonic kept being on the lookout for the trail. Suddenly Sonic noticed the trail had gone cold. "Guys, the trail stopped."
Rosalina landed the Observatory on the ground and the heroes looked at how the trail had suddenly stopped. 22 looked at the oil and uttered, "The oil just stopped here."
Sonic took out Tails' device and scanned the oil. "Hmm...If we're able to track that guy through the oil...He made it to Universe-2028."
"Universe-2028?" America said. "I can open a portal there."
"Remember what we talked about," Mario said.
America took a deep breath and concentrated. Her eyes glowed and she managed to open a portal big enough for the Observatory to fly through.
At the Subspace's Prison
Tails was pushed into the cage by Necrozma and Ganondorf. The demon king scoffed and said, "We'll feed you later, fox. Hopefully Sonic will come to your aid soon."
The two villains left and Tails recovered from the push. He looked up to see Bayonetta, Palutena, and Dark Pit wearing black shackles and there was Slippy, Mei Ling, Daisy, Poo, and Trainer.
"Tails?!" Daisy asked. "It's great to see a familiar face!"
"Hey, look!" Mei-Ling said. "An orange two-tailed fox!"
