Chapter 48: Raid on the Mushroom Kingdom Castle

Mushroom Kingdom, Universe-400

At the castle, our Mario Crew heroes watched as our other heroes flew out of the portal and landed on the front courtyard which had tons of landing pads that Mario's universe's castle didn't have.

Samus, Olimar, Captain Falcon, Diddy, and DK exited the ship and Mario, Luigi, Rohan, and Yoshi hugged their more familiar friends. After introducing everyone else and Mario noticed R.O.B. He pushed America out of the way and said, "LOOK OUT, THERE'S A R.O.B.!!"

"WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!!!" Diddy got in between Mario and the robot. "He's friendly!"

"It's the truth," Samus said. "He helped us fight off Subspace creatures at the base."

"What...?" Pit and everyone else who wasn't at the Isle were confused.

"PERHAPS IT WOULD BE BEST IF I EXPLAIN INSIDE," R.O.B. said.

Inside the castle

In the council room of the castle, R.O.B. explained everything. "IN THE BEGINNING, UNIVERSE-5 WAS THE MAIN UNIVERSE OF WHERE I CAME FROM. ORIGINALLY, I AND MY KIND WERE BUILT TO BECOME ASSISTANTS TO HUMANS ON THE ISLE OF THE ANCIENTS. WE WERE DESIGNATED AS ROBOTIC OPERATING BUDDIES, OR "R.O.B.S" The robot looked down and continued, "UNTIL, HUMANS WENT EXTINCT AND FOR A MILLION YEARS, WE HAVE SERVED AS OURSELVES UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF ME, THE MASTER ROBOT. WE WERE PEACEFUL AND JUST...UNTIL THE DAY TABUU CAME. HE THREATENED US WITH VIOLENCE AND FORCED US TO BUILD THOSE BOMBS AND DARK CANNONS THE SUBSPACE HAVE. IN MY OWN SHAME, I DISGUISED MYSELF AS THE ANCIENT MINISTER AND HAVE SERVED HIM FOR DECADES."

"R.O.B...We're so sorry." America uttered.

"MY PEOPLE DIDN'T DESERVE THEIR FATES...BUT IT WAS HOW THEY WERE REPROGRAMMED. TABUU HAD MADE US SUFFER AND NOW...I AM THE LAST OF MY KIND AND HAVE NO ONE LEFT. THAT IS WHY I AM NOW JOINING YOU ON YOUR QUEST TO SAVE THE PRINCESS AND PROTECT THE CHILD."

"You...want to help us?" Mario asked. "But...you hurt America. You hurt all those universes."

"BELIEVE ME, I DID NOT DESIRE TO USE THOSE ACTIONS, BUT IT WAS SO MY PEOPLE COULD SURVIVE...BUT...THEY'RE GONE..."

"And I told him we'd avenge his kind," Samus said. "What we saw when R.O.B. revealed himself actually happened."

"AND NOW...BEFORE THE INCIDENT AT THE ISLE, I RECEIVED AN ORDER FROM BOWSER TO CAPTURE THE CHILD."

"So, that's why we're here," Rohan said. "Now, I think we're safe."

"NEGATIVE."

"What?"

"MY VAST MULTIVERSE SENSORS INDICATE THAT THE HALBERD BATTLESHIP IS ON ITS WAY HERE."

"Oh, no!" 22 uttered.

"And...if the Halberd comes, we'll die." King Rohan said. "That's why we need to have our weapons and everything ready and board up the castle as fast as we can!"

"That sounds like a good idea," Rohan said.

"I guess we all agree on that plan." Link said.

Mario then said, "King Rohan and Rohan, come with me. Everyone else, go board up the castle and alert all the guards. Also, keep America safe. That's who they're after."

"Yes, sir!" Pit said.

"Why?" Rohan asked.

"We're gonna go get more ammo and supplies," Mario said. "Just being prepared."

"Okay."

"Attention, all guards." King Rohan said on the PA. "The Subspace is coming for us. Engage all defenses and be on high alert. This is a Code Rainbow, I repeat, Code Rainbow. This is NOT a drill!"
