Chapter 74. The nightmare doctor

Caleb POV
"Hi Mr Blackwood it's great to see you again. It's been awhile since I've seen you and Aria." Jose said. I opened the front door a little more to let him inside the house.

"Aria is sleeping right now she'll probably wake up soon from a nightmare." "That's great well not great for her but if you don't mind can I go in the room to see how she reacts when she wakes up from the nightmares?"

I gave him a uncertain look from his question. "I don't think Aria will be comfortable with that." He smiled awkwardly I could tell he was intimidated by me.

"Could you maybe ask her when she wakes up this could really help me understand her nightmare disorder a lot better." Before I could even answer him Ace stood at the top of the stairs in a panicking manner.

"Dad mom is crying hurry she's scared." I ran up the stairs Jose followed behind me to my bedroom. She was mumbling while crying in her sleep when I entered the room.

Jose stayed in the hall while me and Ace went over to the bed to wake her up from her nightmare. "Mommy wake up dad is here now." Ace said to her trying to help me wake her up.

She woke up shaking while crying silently grabbing onto my shoulders frantically to be in my arms. "Ace go get some water for mommy quick." He quickly got off the bed to go get the water for her.

"Breath baby. Breath for me please princess. It was just a bad dream none of it is real princess. Your awake now. Your safe I promise." She hugged me tightly crying in my chest.

"D-daddy I c-ca-..." she tried speaking but couldn't get her words out because she was struggling to breathe. She was having a panic attack. I got up quickly from the bed carrying her downstairs to go outside.

"Is she okay? Do you want me to call an ambulance?" Jose asked me following me outside worriedly. I ignored him focusing on helping her breathe so she wouldn't pass out.

Ace came outside with the water handing it to me I poured some of it on my hand wiping her face with the water. She started breathing a little better hugging me tightly crying even more.

"I-I'm s-scared." She muttered against my chest. "Don't be scared princess I'm here I won't let anything happen to you I promise. Don't think about it just focus on breathing for me."

She snuffled a few times from crying so much while trying her best to focus on breathing and calming down. I kissed her head brushing through her hair with my fingers soothingly.

Ace held her hand trying to help comfort her as well. "Drink some water for me please princess." She tried grabbing the cup from me with shaking hands but I stopped her by holding the cup up to her lips.

She drunk all the water like she hasn't had a drink in years now. I kissed her forehead while Ace kissed the top of her hand to comfort her.

"Jose is here to check on you. Do you want me to tell him to leave?" I whispered to her. She looked up at me her eyes still teary and puffy from crying so much.

"L-let h-him s-stay I j-just n-need t-to c-calm d-down d-don't l-leave m-me j-just h-hold m-me a l-little l-longer p-please." I picked her up grabbing Aces hand so we could go back in the house with Jose following us.

We all sat in the living room she hid her face in my neck straddling my lap while holding Aces hand who was sitting next to me while Jose sat across from us on the couch.

"Let her just calm down a little more and then you can start Jose." I told him so he wasn't sitting there awkwardly. "Take your time I understand this is a lot for her to handle." He replied.

Ace was talking to her about random things that he was doing today to help distract her from the nightmare she had. She started giggling at his jokes about how mean I was cause I wouldn't let him eat ice cream earlier.

"I w-want I-ice c-cream t-too g-go g-get m-me o-one A-Ace a-and y-yourself. I w-want c-chocolate." She told Ace making him happy. I kissed her cheek softly she turned around on my lap facing Jose.

He smiled at her warmly while she laid her head on my shoulder. "H-hi D-Dr S-Sanchez." She greeted him. "Hello Mrs Blackwood. Take your time I'm waiting for Ron to come anyway." Jose replied.

I kissed her cheek making her smile. Ace and Ron walked into the living room together. "Synthia let me inside sorry I'm late the traffic here is terrible." Ron said. I opened Aces and Arias ice cream for them.

"You ready for your check up today?" Ron asked her. She smiled with a small laugh. "I-I'm r-ready." She confirmed. "That's great I'll check her vitals and then you can start Jose." Ron said.

Ron checked her heartbeat, blood pressure, and temperature. "Alright heartbeat is good amazing. Temperature great. Blood pressure is high. Did you just wake up from a nightmare?" He asked clueless about what happened a few minutes ago.

"She did Ron. Shes still trying to calm down from it." Jose confirmed to Ron. "Are you okay Aria? Do you think you can continue with Jose?" Ron asked her to make sure.

She looked up at me and then back to them again. "I-I'm o-okay n-now." She replied to them. "Go ahead Jose." Jose took out his note pad so he could start his session with her.

"First off how are you Aria? Besides what happened to you just now." He asked her. "I-I'm d-doing o-okay." "That's great. I'm glad your starting to do better than the first time we met."

"I wanted to talk to you about the medication you can take for your phobia of sleeping. They will help you sleep through the night. Would you consider doing it or not?" Jose asked.

She looked up at me I could tell both of us were thinking the same thing without her having to tell me. "She's pregnant. She can't take those pills and I don't want her to take any medication there too strong for her to handle." I told both Ron and Jose.

"Well congrats on the new baby." Ron said happy for us. "You have a point sir but with the way she wakes up with panic attacks from these nightmares it can seriously affect her and your baby." Jose reasoned.

"I said no and that's final. She doesn't wake up all the time with panic attacks it only happens when she's having a really bad nightmare. I know what I'm doing Jose I don't need you to provide us with drugs that can harm my wife and baby." I said angrily.

"I-I'm d-doing b-better w-with m-my s-sleep. I s-sleep m-more t-than f-four h-hours n-now. M-my d-dreams a-aren't t-that b-bad w-when C-Caleb I-is n-near m-me." Aria explained to Jose.

She grabbed my hand trying to calm me down because I was getting irritated with Jose. "I'm not trying to make you angry sir I just wanted to ask I wasn't trying to force it on her or anything." Jose explained himself.

"Look Caleb your not exactly how should I say this. Your a very intimidating person especially because your known for your Mafia and ruthless ways. All I'm asking is that you give him a chance." Ron said.

"Do what you need to do. But I'm not giving my wife those pills nor will she be taking them. You can ask her anything but she's going to ask me first before anything happens." I said calmly.

"That's fine sir. I didn't mean to upset you I'm just trying to help." Jose said. "Good. Now you you know what not to ask her about anymore." I said annoyed with him.

I let him continue his conversation with Aria staying calm the rest of the time he was there. I really wanted to kick him out but I knew Aria needed him to help her through her phobia of sleeping.

I was helping her a lot but he knew more than me except when he asked her about the pills. I knew he was intimidated by me and this just made it worse but I didn't care.

I wanted and needed Aria to be safe and healthy not become a drug addict from some stupid pills that might not even help her. I only wanted what was best for her.
