Caleb POV
"Let me go I want to go see my mom!" Ace shouted fighting Zane to go back in the living room to go see Aria. "Dad! I want to see my mom!" He shouted to me getting angry with frustrated tears streaming down his face.I picked him up from the ground taking him upstairs to his room. He started kicking his feet for me to let him go. "Mommy!" He screamed crying even more.
I would let him go see her but Ron wouldn't be able to do his job if he was there. He's too young to see something that gruesome I didn't want him to get traumatized by it.
"Ace listen to me." I put him down on his bed trying to calm him down. He got up from the bed getting ready to run out of the room I pulled him back making him sit on the bed again.
"Let me go I want my mom dad!" He kicked his feet against my stomach trying to get me to move. I held his feet down to stop him from kicking me he was little but he was strong.
"Listen to me Ace." "I want my mom someone hurt her that lady hurt her dad why won't you let me go see her is she dead?" He asked me making my heart drop at the thought of her being dead.
"She's not dead Ace she's going to be fine I promise I'll let you see her you just can't right now." He hugged me crying in my chest. He was angry and scared all at once for his mom just like I was for her.
He pushed away from me something triggering his anger. "That lady hurt her dad. She told me to go get you but I couldn't find you where were you mommy needed you; you could have saved her!" He yelled at me.
I didn't blame him for being angry at me for Aria getting hurt he was right I should have been there I could have made it to her before she got stabbed.
I left to go get her a new phone and ice cream to apologize for breaking her phone. "Why did you leave dad? You know mommy always needs you she needed you why weren't you there?" He yelled crying angrily.
I didn't know how to respond to him i disappointed him, I broke my promise to him and Aria that I would always protect them.
"Why weren't you there dad!?" He yelled again demanding an answer from me. "I don't know Ace!" I yelled back making him flinch from yelling at him.
I felt bad for raising my voice at him I got down on my knees so I could hug him at the same height as him.
"I'm sorry Ace your right I should have been there I left to get mommy a new phone and ice cream. This won't happen again I promise I won't let it happen again." He nodded his head at me refusing to hug me.
"Don't make a promise you can't keep dad. You told me to always promise something I know I can do and make happen. You promised to keep us safe dad you promised mommy." He cried making me feel even more guilty.
"I did and your right I didn't keep my promise but I won't let it happen again this was a mistake that was never suppose to happen but it did and it's my fault."
"Yeah it is dad it's your fault all of this is your fault." He said being brutally honest with me. He finally hugged me back I picked him up laying down on his bed with him.
He stopped crying getting quiet closing his eyes tiredly. I kissed his head softly covering him in the blanket. He really got his anger from me I clearly seen it today.
Ace was just as protective of his mother as I was for her i seen the same darkness and fury in his eyes that I seen in myself. Ace was going to be just as dangerous and scary as I was maybe even worse.
I smiled to myself as I thought about how proud I was for raising Ace to be so protective of his family. Aria didn't know it yet but she gave birth to a psychopath. I wasn't going to be her only giant meanie Ace was too now.
