Chapter 190. Black bird

Ace POV
My mom didn't sleep all night she was sitting on the staircases waiting for my dad to come home already. She felt bad for making him so angry but then again I understood why she was angry.

She was angry with the both of us we should have told her but my dad just wanted to give her time to adjust to me joining his Mafia first and then for her to become comfortable and okay with it.

But some things just don't go as planned. He was only trying to protect her but he ended up hurting her feelings in the process. The sun was starting to creep up in the sky as I looked through the window by the front door.

I was starting to get impatient and worried because he still didn't come home. This wasn't like him not to come home yet. He always came home at a reasonable time because he always wanted to make sure mom was sleeping okay.

It was seven in the morning currently and he still wasn't home. I got up from sitting behind my mom on the staircases. I walked upstairs taking my phone out from my pocket to call him.

His phone went straight to voicemail meaning his phone was dead. I called Max instead to see if he spent the night there instead or something since my dad and Aaron were best friends.

"Max." I spoke up once he answered. "Yeah what's up?" He asked me. "Is my dad there?" I asked him. "No why?" He asked me concerned. "Nothing are you sure he didn't come at all last night?" I asked him.

"No bro he didn't come at all last night and he's not here now either." He explained to me. "Alright just call me if you see him." I told him. "Sure bro." He replied before I hung up.

I made my way towards my bedroom as soon as I made it to my bedroom door I heard someone knock on the front door. I ran back towards the stairs to go downstairs.

My mom opened the door revealing a cop standing at the door. I walked towards my mom standing next to her. "Are you Caleb Blackwoods wife Aria Blackwood?" The cop asked my mom.

A bad feeling filled my heart once he asked that. "Y-yes i-I'm h-his w-wife w-what h-happened." She answered the cop her voice trembling with tears like she knew something was wrong.

The cop took his hat off staring at my mom with a sad expression taking over his face. "I'm sorry to inform you ma'am but your husband has been involved in a very bad accident last night." He explained to us.

My mom's eyes filled with even more tears all her tears rushing down her face as she screamed falling onto her knees next to me. I stumbled back losing my balance slightly as my mom fell onto her knees.

"Where is he?" I asked him my voice breaking as I spoke. "He's in the Oakland hospital currently." He informed me. "I'm sorry for this tragic news." He apologized before walking away to leave.

My mom screamed and cried on the floor. I noticed Aaron and Layla pull into the driveway rushing out of the car hearing my mom scream and cry on the floor.

"What happened Ace?" Max and Aaron asked me worriedly while Layla got on her knees to calm my mom down. I couldn't respond I felt lost like I was in shock and disbelief.

"H-he's d-dead a-and I-it's a-all m-my f-fault!" My mom screamed out through sobs. Aaron eyes widened at what my mom said. "Where is he!" He yelled at me trying to help me get back to my senses.

Max threw water on my face causing me to gasp in shock. "Where is your dad Ace?" Max asked me. "He's at the hospital." I told them pushing them away to pick my mom up off the ground so we could leave.

"Ace where's daddy?" Nova asked me crying running down the stairs to me and mom with my brothers following her worriedly. "Why is mommy crying?" Aiden and Matt asked at the same time panicking.
