A few hours had now passed since I found out the love of my life is dead. A lot of different people came up to me to check on me. First it was my Dad, then Lori, Glenn, Maggie, Carol, Dale, Andrea, T-Dog. Now I guess it was Carl and Sophia's turn to check on me. I tried to shoo them away but Sophia wouldn't have it. In the short time I've known her she has gone from this shy timid little girl, to a bold powerhouse. Carol blames me for that, but admitted that she's happy to see her daughter not be so afraid anymore.
"I'm sure he's in heaven looking down on you now." Sophia said softly.
I smiled slightly at the little girl. Even though I don't believe in God, I do believe in some kind of after life. Whether it be heaven, or something else. I had always heard tales about the deceased coming back as their favorite animal, to come visit their loved ones. That's the one I actually believed. I was about to finally speak when Carl cut me off.
"There's no such thing as Heaven Sophia! You're stupid if you believe that!"
"Carl!" I yelled at him I grabbed his arm as he tried walking away from me. "It's fine if you don't believe in Heaven. I don't really know if I do either. But you can't go around shitting on other peoples beliefs. I for one do believe in some kind of after life. I don't know whether that is Heaven or not, but you do not get to decide for me or Sophia what we believe about it."
He looked at me with a sad face. "I know, I'm sorry."
"It's okay Bud. I get it. In this world it's really hard to believe in any of that."
Carl and Sophia both hugged me before walking away, leaving me alone once more. I'm trying so hard not to think about Liam and I's last night together, but I can't get it out of my head. Maybe if I hadn't of left him, he'd still be alive.
While walking to my tent I felt someone's presence behind me. I knew who it was. I turned to look at him. "What's up Robin Hood?"
"'ere Princess" He threw something at me. When I caught is I knew what it was. It was Liam's leather jacket I had taken off of him. Except it was no longer covered in guts and blood. It now looked as good as it did the day I had met Liam.
My eyes started tearing up again. "You cleaned it? Why?"
"Thought Ye might wan' it, winter's comin' soon."
"Thank you. This really means a lot to me." I said while twirling the ring on my right hand.
Daryl grunted. I was getting kind of good at deciphering his grunts. The one he had just given me was his 'no problem' grunt. "Ye know, Tha' was a stupid thing ye did."
"Huh?"
"Back talkin' Shane. Tryin' to show 'im up."
"Oh, right. That." I had honestly forgotten all about that, after finding out Liam is dead. "I know, I shouldn't have. I just got so pissed." He grunted again. The grunt of disapproval. "Something's not right about him Daryl. I can feel it." He grunted once more. Agreement. "I can't place it though, I just feel like something awful will happen with him or because of him. I mean minus today."
"Ye don' know tha'"
"I don't. That doesn't mean I'm not right though."
As if he knew we were talking about him, Captain Unstable walked towards us. He wasn't as mad as he was at the barn, but he still looked pretty pissed. It might just be his resting bitch face though. Daryl stepped in between Shane and I as I finally put on Liam's leather jacket. "Move out of the way, I'm not going to hurt her. I just want to talk."
Daryl wasn't budging, I nudged him. "It's fine Robin Hood, I'll scream for you if I need assistance." I could tell he wasn't happy about that answer by the way he left my side. When Daryl was far enough away, I crossed my arms and looked at Shane. "What?"
