After my father decided that he couldn't kill Randall, I left. Clearly sparing that dickbag, is more important than protecting his own daughter. I don't get it. He says he would do anything to protect me, but here he is letting the biggest threat to me, live.I'm hurt. I let my guard down. I trusted him and he betrayed that trust. First it was just the fact that he invaded my privacy. I could live with that, maybe even eventually forgive him. However at that meeting he admitted he wanted to make it right, he agreed with the consensus of the group to kill Randall, and then he didn't do it.
I had wished for most of my life that I could have my father back. The man who would do anything for me, and love me unconditionally. I really thought that would be the case when I discovered he wasn't dead, but all he has done is disappoint.
I'm starting to regret leaving the farm so late at night. I should've just waited until morning. I can barely see anything in front of me, and honestly it isn't safe to be roaming these woods. I am not turning back though.
I finally stumble upon an old hunting blind. I guess this place will have to do for the night, I shouldn't stay outside for much longer anyways. I open the door to be immediately greeted by a geek. Fantastic. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my knife, sending it straight through its skull. I pulled it away from the hunting blind, before walking in and hunkering down for the night.
I closed my eyes, finally about to fall asleep as I heard a knock on the door of the blind. I must be going insane. There's absolutely no way there was an actual knock on the door. I closed my eyes again, only to hear another knock. Okay maybe I'm not imagining it. I approach the door, to hear one more knock. I had no intentions of opening the door, that is until I heard a small voice come from the other side. "Nora, I know you're in there. Let me in." Carl?
I opened the door to see my little brother standing outside. I grabbed him by the arm and shoved him into the blind before shutting the door once more. I then scanned his body, making sure that there were no bites or scratches. When I realized he was okay I let out a sigh of relief before scolding him in a low voice. Hunting blinds aren't exactly sound proof, and we don't need every geek in the area lining up for dinner service. "What the hell are you doing? Why are you out here? Do you understand how dangerous that was?"
"Do you?" He asked me. I was taken back by his question.
"Excus-"
"No. You listen. Right after you left Dale was attacked by a walker. He's dead." Oh crap. I didn't hate Dale. He was a good person, he was just way too good for this world.
"Carl. I'm sorry. Dale was a good man. I didn't agree with him much, but I know he was only trying to do what he thought was right."
"Nora, I don't want to lose you too. I finally just got a sibling, I'm not ready to lose you." He hugged me. I could hear the sadness in his voice.
"Carl, You are my brother and I love you. Nothing will ever change that. However I can't be on that farm anymore, not if... He is there."
"Nora, none of us are going to let him hurt you again. I'm not going to let him hurt you." Carl said with determination in his eyes.
"Buddy that's sweet, but if he did try to hurt me or anyone else, you won't be able to stop him. Trust me I speak from experience." He was about to argue but I cut him off. "Tomorrow morning, I'm bringing you back. It's too dangerous to go tonight. However once you are back, safe and sound, I'm leaving."
"No. Please Nora. We're your family. Me, Mom, Dad. We love you, we need you." He pleaded with me.
"Carl, that's your family. Lori isn't my mother, and Dad, well.... He made it pretty clear that I'm not a priority. You are lucky to have a family Carl, I didn't really have one growing up. All I had was a mother who hated my guts, and a step father who hated me more. I'm used to taking care of myself, It's what I've done for years before all of this."
