A/N: Just a warning that the time jumps are about to get crazy. I had previously stated that I do not want to just jump right into six years in the future, so there will be medium sized time jumps instead of that huge one. This first one will be a year into the future. I just thought I should remind you all before I do this, so that nobody is confused lol.

TW: Smut in the beginning.
One Year Later.
Daryl's POV:
A few things have changed in the last year. Mae has been settling into her new leadership role, and she's doing great. I have to remind her of that all the time though, since her biggest critic is herself.
Most of Alexandria has come to respect her as the leader of this place we call home. Most of the community already trusted her and remembered her from when she used to live here, so it didn't take them that long to adjust. But some people still aren't happy that Mae took over. There's a group of maybe ten people who want Rick to go back to leading, and I just don't understand why.
I'm not at all saying Rick is a bad leader, because he's not. Rick has led us since the beginning of this shitty world we live in, and he's done a great job. Mae leads a lot like he used to, but before she makes a decision on anything important, she actually asks the community for their opinions first. Unlike Rick who just did most things because he wanted to.
So far the small group that is against Mae leading hasn't done anything harmful or bad towards her or anyone else. So until the day comes where one of them tries to hurt her, we can't really do anything about it. I hope none of them are stupid enough to actually try anything though.
We also finished the bridge. Yes, the same bridge Mae blew up. We had to restart from the beginning, but it was okay. It took longer without the help from the Saviors, but we got it done.
Speaking of the Saviors, all of the ones that weren't terrible people made their way to the Kingdom, Hilltop, or here at Alexandria to make a new place their home. The Sanctuary ended up failing and all the Saviors who were living there, the ones who refused to leave, died.
Merle and Jane had been leading the Saviors for a while, but after Mae had blown up the bridge a year ago they came back to Alexandria. The Saviors didn't want any of us around anymore, so they decided to try and survive on their own. They didn't get very far.
I am planning on going on a run today and Aaron is joining me. Mae thought it would be a good idea if we started looking for people again, and I agreed. I hate to quote Negan, but people are a resource.
Mae and I are still in bed. Obviously I'm awake, but she's trying to pretend like she isn't. I would love to spend all day in bed with her. If I could picture my perfect day, that's what it would be. Mae and I in bed all day with someone else watching the kids so we don't have to get up or do anything but be with each other.
I brushed Mae's long copper hair out of her face. I have told her a few times that she should cut her hair, not that I don't love it long, because believe me I do. But when she's out and about, long hair can get in the way and become dangerous, but then again I have no room to talk. She said she would think about cutting hers when I let her cut mine. And that'll never happen.
"I know yer awake." I told her before pressing a kiss to her forehead. She didn't open her eyes, but instead pretended to snore. I know she's pretending because even though she does snore, she doesn't sound like this. Her real snores are quiet and peaceful, while the sound that just came out of her mouth would put a chainsaw to shame. "Ya wanna play that game, huh?"
