TW: Mentions of SA, near the end.
When Michonne entered the house we've been staying in, she had a huge smile on her face and tears in her eyes. She scooped Carl into a hug immediately. I waited for their moment to be over before I hugged her. I'm so glad that we have another one of our family members back, but does it make me a terrible person to wish that it had been Daryl or the kids walking through that door instead?
We all swapped stories of what happened to us after we had to flee the prison, which also meant I needed to explain what happened to T-Dog again. I wish I could just forget, but I can't knowing that it's my fault. After Griffin put his hand on my thigh, I should've done a bar crawl instead of telling him to add more bullets. I mean that was just a ploy. I was going to kill him while he loaded the gun. Clearly, that plan didn't work.
It has now been a few days since we welcomed Michonne, and I haven't gotten much sleep. Apparently T's death is haunting me both while I'm awake, and when I'm asleep. My father has had to wake me several times because of my midnight cries.
Michonne and Carl left us a little while ago to hunt for supplies. I was going to join them but Dad suggested that I stay back to get some rest, knowing that I need it I stayed. Dad didn't go either, he decided to keep watch on the house.
I walked up the stairs, and entered the first bedroom. I placed my sword right next to the dresser before sliding into the bed. It is nice to feel an actual bed underneath me again, I haven't been on one since I was shot at Hershel's farm. We had mattresses at the prison, but they weren't great. It didn't take me long to fall asleep.
A little while later I was being shaken awake. "Nora...." My father was whispering. I rolled over and kept my eyes closed. I'm tired. Leave me alone. "Nora." My father tried again.
"Five more minutes." I whined. I was actually sleeping well for the first time in days. Just let me sleep. "Please...." I kept my eyes closed.
He shook me again. "Nora, get up." His voice sounded urgent so I finally opened my eyes to look at him. His face was filled with panic. "There's people in the house."
And now I was filled with panic. I jumped out of the bed and grabbed my sword. I was about to run out of the room and eliminate the threat when my father pulled me back. "Get under the bed." I rolled my eyes and continued walking towards the door. I know I can handle whoever is in this house. He grabbed my arm and glared at me while whisper yelling. "Get the fuck under the bed."
I lightly groaned and did as he asked. I don't need to piss him off more. I know better than to mess with a protective parent. Especially since I am one. God I miss my kids.
When I got under the bed I watched my father slightly open the door to check the hallway before sliding under the bed with me. He then looked at me and held a finger up to his mouth to tell me to stay silent while narrowing his eyes at me. Like I have another choice in this position.
Soon a man walked into the room we are in and literally hopped onto the bed, bending the mattress down so that it was touching our backs. After a few minutes we heard the man's loud ass snores. It wouldn't surprise me if this man needed a CPAP machine before the world went to shit.
I started quietly whispering to my dad at a volume where I could barely even hear myself, so I know McSnorington isn't going to wake up. "Let's just handle this."
"No." Dad met my volume.
"I can handle them." I'm basically just mouthing the words to make sure I'm not heard by anybody else who may enter the room later. "You know I can."
