Daryl's POV:
This morning Mae went back to Hilltop, but she's not planning on being there long. She's going to go see Negan today and finally kill him. Glenn is going with her. He was against killing all the Saviors, but he still wants Negan dead. I had to stay back at the camp to help work on the bridge, but really I'm just holding down the fort here just in case Rick finds out about our plan.
Right now, I'm cutting an apple with my knife while listening to Eugene talk to Rick about the bridge and a few herds. Rick is staring off into the distance as Eugene's rambling gets off track, and I get it. The walking encyclopedia can get pretty annoying.
After Rick was done talking to Eugene, Jerry rode in to camp on a horse. Rick walked up to him knowing he must have a message since he's on message relay duty for Hilltop today. Before Jerry opened his mouth to speak I was pretty sure I already knew what he was going to say.
"Got somethin' for you, Jefe." Jerry told Rick. "Nora's running down to Alexandria. Jesus thought you should know pronto."
Of course Jesus is trying to ruin our fun.
"When did they leave?" Rick asked in a rough tone.
"Dunno. Call just came in from the Hilltop relay." Jerry explained.
"Did he say anything else?" Rick went into full cop questioning mode.
"Just that you'd now what that means." Jerry shrugged. "Sorry, man, that's all I got."
"No, no. Thanks, Jerry." Rick told him before grabbing his walkie and speaking to the Alexandria message relay team. "Alexandria Relay One, this is Rick Grimes. Come in, please."
"Go for A.R One."
"A.R One," Rick started speaking to Rachel who is at the other end of the walkie. "I need you to get an urgent message to Alexandria. If Nora Grimes-Dixon show's up, delay her at the gate and alert Michonne right away. Do not, repeat do not let her in without an escort. Over."
"Copy that, Rick. We'll relay your message right now. Over."
"Hey, Nora. Bug,"Rick said desperately into the walkie. "If you're listening, let's talk."
She's done talking, Rick.
That little message Rick just tried to send to Alexandria, will not go through. I know that, but he doesn't. After keeping quiet about what Oceanside did to the missing Saviors, I asked them to help us, and they were more than willing. Rachel, the girl Rick was just speaking to is from Oceanside, which means she isn't relaying shit.
I walked over to Rick pretending like I know nothing about what's happening. "Hey, What's goin' on?" I said while still munching on my apple.
"Nora's headed to Alexandria." He 'informed' me, not realizing I'm in on it. "She's about to do something she might regret."
Nah, I don't think she'll regret it at all.
I saw him untying his horse, 'Lightnin' McSteed', when I pointed to my corn fueled motorcycle. "Hop on. I'll take ya."
"You sure?" He turned back and asked me. "You got enough fuel."
"Yeah." I walked up beside him and patted his back. "We'll get there quicker."
When he hopped on my bike, I started driving. I was supposed to be driving to Alexandria, I will be diving anywhere but that place. The last thing Mae needs is her father ripping this opportunity away from her.
When I saw the road leading to Alexandria, I drove right past it. And immediately Rick was up my ass about it.
"That was the way, back there." He told me. I didn't reply as I continued driving us further away. "Pull over." He told me as he realized I will not be bringing him to Alexandria. "I- Pull over!" He yelled at me.
