It has now been about a week since Deanna's party, which means it has also been a week since Daryl got his new job. He finally fixed the motorcycle that Aaron gave him, and they both are about to leave on a recruiting mission. When we told the kids, Sebastian didn't care much. Well he did, but he was excited for Daryl. Honestly Sebastian has always clung onto me more than my husband, so when Daryl said he could be gone for weeks at a time, Seb was fine. But he did make Daryl promise he would come back.
Sophia on the other hand, is shutting down. She doesn't want Daryl to leave, and I don't blame her. I honestly don't want him leaving either, but I know this is what he needs so I'm being supportive. Ever since we told her, she's been more moody. She's been refusing to talk to Daryl, and she barely even talks to me because I'm 'allowing' him to go.
We are now saying goodbye to him, for however long he may be gone. I know he'll be okay. He's a damn Dixon. And nothing can kill a Dixon, besides a Dixon. Or at least I hope.
I dragged Sophia's little ass out of the house, so she can say goodbye to her father. If something were to happen to him out there, she would never forgive herself if she didn't at least say goodbye.
"If you find anything cool out there, bring it back for me alright?" Sebastian told his father. "Also make sure to come back, I don't think I'll be able to handle those two drama queens alone for long." He then pointed to both Sophia and I. I glared at him while Sophia scoffed.
"Ya got it kid." I heard a humorous grunt escape Daryl's throat. Sebastian was about to walk away, when Daryl stopped him. "Hey." Our son turned back around to face him. "Take care of 'em." Daryl nodded to both Soph and I. Seb nodded and walked towards me.
I then pushed Sophia forward to make her speak to her father. She groaned as I did so. Once she was in front of Daryl, she crossed her arms and refused to speak.
Damn it Soph! Stop being so stubborn! Talk to him!
"Listen Sunshine.." I love how he started using my nickname for her, even though right now she is anything but a ray of sunshine. "Be good for yer ma, alright? I'll be back."
"Whatever." Sophia scoffed. "Just don't die." She then started walking away from all of us.
"Sophia!" I yelled to her. She didn't stop. "Sophia! Get your ass back here!" She refused to stop. She refused to come back.
"Mae." Daryl grabbed my arm. "It's alright."
"No it's not." I groaned loudly before starting to calm down. "I'm sorry. She loves you, she's just upset." He grunted in a way to let me know he understands. "Make sure you're safe out there, okay? I want you to come back in one living piece." He nodded. "I love you, Dare." I pulled him in for a small kiss.
When he broke away from our kiss, he twisted the throttle of his bike and told me. "To the moon and back."
I pulled my son close to me as the both of us watched Daryl leave. I walked back to the house alone, and I immediately started looking for my daughter. Sebastian went to go find Enid, those two have been getting a little closer lately. It's good to see him hanging out with someone his age that isn't family. I'm happy he's making friends.
I slammed the front door closed and started screaming immediately. "Sophia Madison Peletier!"
"Ahh Damn!" Merle's booming voice called out. "What did Gretel do now?"
I looked at my brother in law from my position next to the stairs. "She was a dick to Daryl before he left."
"And?" Merle came to Sophia's defense. "Darlyna ain't gonna get his feelin's hurt by a moody teenager."
