71: The King's Decree

Jesus had told us about a man who calls himself 'The King'.  From my experience nothing good comes from people who label themselves with such noble names. Take the Governor for example. He was royally screwed up.

A bunch of us were now taking a drive to this place called the Kingdom. I guess I shouldn't be shocked by the name since a 'King' is in charge.

Daryl asked me not to come, but I refused to stay back at Hilltop. If there is a possibility of getting this King on our side, I think both Daryl and I need to be there. Daryl and I are living proof of how bad the Saviors are.

The other people who joined us on this mission today were my father, Michonne, Carl, Soph.  Merle, Rosita, Sasha, and Jesus. The vehicle that we are in is very full and it's a tight squeeze to make sure everybody is in here, but it's fine.

A few of us started getting out of the SUV when Jesus told us to park the vehicle. "It's called the Kingdom?" My father asked Jesus for the fifth time still not believing that there is a damn King who lives in a kingdom.

I guess this is the fantasyland Shane always talked about.

"Yeah." He told my father yet again. "I didn't name it."

My father sighed while looking all around us. "How much farther?"

"Well, technically, we're already here." Jesus stated. "I mean, we're always here, but here we are at the Kingdom." Jesus then shrugged. "Well, its outer edge."

"Hey, what the hell are we waitin' on?" Daryl asked while leaning out of the SUV.

Jesus then pointed with a small smile growing on his face. "Waiting for them."

We all looked in the direction Jesus was pointing and saw two men coming our way while riding on horses. One of the men started speaking as if he were in a shakespearean play and I groaned wondering if everybody in the Kingdom talks like this.

"Who dares trespass on the sovereign land of the-" The mans words were cut off  when he saw Jesus. "Oh shit, Jesus is that you?" Jesus didn't verbally respond, but did held his hand up to wave at the men. One of the men on a horse then looked at our group and asked, "Who are all these people, Paul?"

Paul? I guess that must be Jesus's real name.

"Hi Richard." Jesus greeted as he stepped forward. "Nice to see you."

"It's good to see you too." The man we now know as Richard said. "Your friends, who are they?"

Jesus pointed to my father and spoke. "This is Rick Grimes. He's the leader of a like-minded community. These are some of his people. We would like to request an audience with King Ezekiel."

Richard got off his horse and walked over to us while asking everyone who is still in the car to get out of it. My mental red flag alert was going off at the sight of this man. I don't like him much. There's just something about him that screams 'trouble'.

"You say they're a like minded community." Richard spoke to Jesus. "Like-minded how?"

"We live, we trade, we fight the dead." Jesus informed him. "Sometimes others."

Richard nodded. "Line up."

"This is a waste of time." Daryl groaned. "Come on. Let's go."

"Give them a chance, Dare." I rolled my eyes at my husband while crossing my arms.

"No, Maybe he's right." Richard said. "The King is a busy man. And it's a dangerous world. We don't usually allow a pack of strangers to waltz through our door."
