Theodore's POV:

Addy gave Dad a note from Mom and Uncle Henry that said they couldn't live with us handing over Lydia so they went to find her. As Dad was getting ready to leave I begged him to come with. I wouldn't care so much about going if it was someone I barely knew, but this is Mom and Uncle Henry. I have to help.

Dad said no.

Now the thing is, I've never snuck out before and I never thought I would have to. But here we are. I need to help Dad save Mom.

Dad brought Connie with him. He didn't want to, but Connie refused to be left behind. Apparently she couldn't live with the decision to turn in Lydia either. I was okay with it. My family comes first. And giving Lydia back to her mother protected my family.

Right after Dad left the gates with Connie and Dog, I ran inside to the bedroom Mom, Avalon, and I have been staying in so I could grab my bag and go. I didn't just get my things ready to go though. I grabbed Avalon's things as well.

I know my sister well enough that if I leave without her, she'll just sneak out and track me down. So it's better if we are together versus separated. Plus this way I can protect her if anything goes wrong. As I was getting our stuff ready to go though, she started questioning me.

"Where you goin'?"

I rolled my eyes. "We are goin'." I corrected her before throwing her bag at her.

"Then do you wanna tell me where we are goin'?" She asked me as she stared at the backpack in her hands.

"Mom and Henry left to go find Lydia. Dad and Connie went to go find them." I informed my twin sister about the newest events. "We are going out to find Dad and Connie. They'll need help."

"No." Avalon shook her head at me and frowned. "I ain't goin'."

"The hell you mean you ain't goin?" I questioned my sister while scowling at her. "You sneak out all the time to help people you barely know, but now that it's our family out there you wanna sit on your ass?"

"I don't wanna stay." She whined. "I have to. Daddy's already mad at me."

"He'll have to get over it." I groaned at her. "Let's go."

"No." She whined again. "He said if I left and was bad again he'd spank me. I don't want him to hit me."

"Dad ain't gonna hit ya." I rolled my eyes while groaning at her.

"Yes he will." She crossed her arms. "He said he don't want to but he will if I continue being bad."

"Look," I sighed knowing we're losing precious time. "He can't spank you if he thinks I forced you to come. So will you get anythin' but your pajamas on and come with me."

"You promise you won't let him spank me?" She frowned.

"Yeah." I nodded my head and stared at her. "I promise. Now get decent clothes on I ain't travelling with you in care-bear sleep shorts."

"Why not?" She asked me in a teasing tone. "They're stylish. That's what Aunt Beth tells me."

"First of all, they're ugly. Just like you." I growled. "Second, They ain't practical. They don't cover your legs. And third, we're losin' time. We gotta go. So just- just do as I say, alright?"

"You're just rude." She rolled her eyes at me before walking over to the dresser to get a pair of jeans. I turned around so I don't have to watch her get dressed. That might be the last thing I ever want to see. "And I ain't ugly. Daddy told me you're just jealous cause I'll grow up to be pretty like Momma and you'll be stuck looking like him."
