The next morning we did not leave at first light like I wanted to. Our morning was filled with barricading the church, and telling people they either can't or shouldn't come with us.
To barricade the church, we used the pipes from the organ and the wood from the church pews. We placed the wood in front of the windows and nailed them in place, so that nothing can get in. We also placed the organ pipes outside in front of the church entrance, using them as stakes in case any geeks stumble by.
As Daryl and I were placing the pipes in the ground outside, Gabriel was outside watching us 'destroy' his church. He then turned to Daryl and asked him a question snarkily. "Are you gonna take the cross too?"
Daryl and I both looked at each other in disbelief. Gabriel has no fucking clue what this world is actually like. He refuses to kill the geeks, he's been alone this whole time locked away in this church. He's useless. Much like Eugene. Luckily though Eugene knows the cure to all of this, so I guess he's not completely useless.
"If we need it." Daryl replied to the priest having a melt down. Even Judith doesn't complain this much, and she still wears diapers.
Most of the group wanted to come with us, but there was absolutely no way I was going to allow Carl or Seb to come with us. Daryl and Dad agreed with me on that topic. The boys were upset about our decision of course. They both love Sophia and they want to help, but we don't need any distractions. My main priority out there will be making sure Our little Sunshine and Beth get out of that hospital.
Michonne, Gwendolyn, and Jane all offered to stay back and watch the kids while we were gone. There's only one person in that trio that I do not trust. Gwendolyn. I used to hate Jane, but now she's become family. She helped Merle take care of my kids while I was separated from them, and for that, I will always be thankful. I asked Merle to stay back too as some added muscle in case things go wrong. He wasn't happy about being placed on 'Baby-Sitting duty', but agreed to what I asked of him anyway.
We were now finally on our way to Atlanta. Our run crew consisted of Me, Daryl, Dad, Sasha, Tyreese, and Noah. The only reason Noah is with us is because he used to live at the place where Beth and Soph are being held captive. He can help us get in.
Tyreese has been trying to comfort Sasha from the loss of Bob. None of his efforts are working, and that's okay. She needs time to process, to grieve. Nobody should tell her how to do so. I feel for her, because I know exactly how this feels. I hope I never have to live through that pain ever again.
Once we were in Atlanta we found an old warehouse of some kind and came together as a group to try figuring out what the plan will be. I already told them about my three step plan, but nobody wanted to entertain that idea. It may be possible that I'm not thinking straight. All I want is my daughter. I don't care how I get her. As long as she's safe.
"At sundown we fire a shot into the air. Get two of them out on patrol." My dad started explaining while drawing out the hospital floor plan on the ground with a piece of chalk we found. ""Then once it's dark enough that the rooftop spotter won't see us, we go." Dad was now pointing at and marking off places on the floor plan as he talked to us. "We cut the locks on one of the stairways, take it to the fifth floor. I open the door, Daryl takes the guard out..."
"How?" Tyreese interrupted.
"He slits his throat." Dad stated. I could feel my husband tensing up next to me. I could tell he didn't like this plan, but would go through with it if it meant collecting our daughter and Beth. "This is all about us doing this quiet, keeping the upper hand." Dad looked around at all of us. "They're not expecting us." Dad then looked back at the floor plan map he drew up. "From there, we fan out. Knives and silenced weapons. We need to be fast. Tyreese, Sasha, take them." He told them while putting X's in a room on the map. "Daryl, you take care of whoever is in the kitchen. I got Dawn-"
