Echoes

The children wait outside the cave together near the entrance whilst the adults enter Echo Cave "Emma! Kitty!" They hear once they enter and they look over to see Neal in a small stick cage and Kitty lets out a breath of relief "Neal!" She shouts and Jefferson quickly grabs her arm because she hadn't noticed that she was close to the edge and she grips her husbands arm as she moves back towards the others "It must be a hundred feet across." Snow says looking at the gap between them and Neal and David examines the cave "Even if we fashioned some sort of rope, there's nothing to attach it to... No way to swing over." David says and Kitty clears her throat. 

"you do know I could just.." she trails off as she hovers off the ground and Hook shakes his head "no love, this cave has its own magic to stop you from doing that." He tells her and so she moves back down to stand beside Jefferson as she looks over at her brother "Neal are you okay?!" She shouts over whilst the others discuss what they're going to do, "Yeah Kitty I'm okay!" He calls back and it makes her feel better "just hang in there brother we'll find a way to get over to you!" Jefferson also shouts over to him, "So, what? Someone tells their secret and they sprout wings?" Emma says and Kitty has to hide her laugh by turning her face into Jefferson's shoulder and he hides his smile in Kitty's hair "I don't know the particulars, only what I've been told." Hook says and David looks at him skeptically. 

"Well, how do you know it'll work?" He says and Hook takes a second to look over at Kitty "There's only one way to find out, I suppose..." Hook sighs and looks away from the group towards the edge before he turns back to them all "I kissed Emma." He says and both Kitty and David are horrified "You did what?" David says and Kitty shrieks "What The Fuck Emma?! Ewww!" She says looking at the both of them disgusted and Jefferson has to fight to hold in his laughter "David, now is not the time." Snow says and Jefferson just rubs his wives arm to keep her calm, but he can't help but also feel slightly disgusted "I already told Mary Margaret, so technically it's not a secret." Emma says and Kitty manages to contain her disgust for her father and Emma "But it was just a kiss... How's that your darkest secret?" Emma says confused and Kitty looks at her father.

Hook briefly looks over at her before he looks back at Emma "It's what the kiss exposed... My secret is, I never thought I'd be capable of letting go of my first love... of my Milah..." he says and his eyes move over to Kitty who is staring at him listening to his every word "to believe that I could find someone else that is, until I met you..." he says and Kitty doesn't know to feel... if this is really going to make her father happy, she doesn't really have a right to stand in the way of that, it might take time to get used to but she will support her father in any way she can, the ground shakes and a bridge starts forming from Neal's side of the cave and that's how they realise it's working "Uh... Mary Margaret... I" David starts to says but Snow quickly shakes her head. 

"No, no. No... Me next." She says and she looks at David "Ever since the curse broke, since we found each other, since we found Emma... and all of that happiness, there is something I haven't wanted to admit." She says and takes a deep breath before she looks at Emma "Our daughter is a beautiful, smart, amazing woman whom I love very much, and of whom I could not be more proud... But she's all grown up and as much as I wanna pretend I'm okay with that, I'm not." She says shaking her head and Kitty can see that Snow's words are having an impact on Emma, she can see it in her eyes "We missed it, David... What we have with her is unique, but it's not what I wanted, we were cheated out of everything... her first step, her first word, her first smile... We missed it all." Snow says and Kitty doesn't like where this is going, she can see Emma is hiding how much it's hurting her. 

"What are you saying?" David asks her and she looks back at him "When we get off this island and get back to Storybrooke, I want another go at it, I wanna have another baby." Snow says and once again the ground shakes again and the bridge grows a little bit longer and Kitty sees Emma takes a few steps back so she leaves Jefferson's side to go and stand beside her and gently take hold of her hand. Jefferson looks over at David to see that the man looks as if he's panicking "Nothing in this world would make me happier, and I know with all my heart that you would make... An amazing mother." He says and Snow smiles but David takes a deep breath and continues "But it can never happen... At least not with me." He says and Snow looks worried "What do you mean?" She asks and Kitty sees a tear fall down David's cheek and she becomes worried for her best friend.
