Written by me on caymanpotter's request.

It had been two days. Two days of not speaking to each other. Two days of awkwardly tiptoeing around each other. Two days of trying not to think about that night and failing miserably.

Annabeth couldn't help it. The perfection with which they fit together was burned into her mind. They were just supposed to be best friends who had made a mistake but she couldn't help but remember the love in his eyes as they had merged together. The crush she'd had on him hadn't helped either.

Trying to suppress her rising feelings  she went down to breakfast with a heavy heart. Ignoring the look of surprise on everybody's faces she chose to take a seat farthest from where Percy was sitting. She went to take her usual coffee from the table when their eyes met. He looked away almost immediately.

The action hurt more than what she had expected but it also brought her clarity. Clarity that one night stand or not she needed Percy in her life. She knew what she had to do.

He stood up to leave the dining area and she knew that if he walked away right now she would never be able to build up her courage again. She shot up out of her seat ( scaring Leo who had been sitting beside her) and the cliche words tumbled out of her mouth.

"We need to talk".

It had been two days. Two days of berating himself for letting it happen. Two days of not being able to look her in the eye lest his hidden feelings come out. Two days since his simple crush had transformed into something that made him painfully aware of her absence.

At breakfast he tried to put up a facade. He tried not to show how much it hurt when she abandoned her usual seat to sit away from him.

Their eyes met as she took her coffee from the table and he knew he couldn't sit any longer or he would end up doing something stupid like confessing his love. He stood up to leave and vaguely noticed that she had shot up from her seat.

"We need to talk".

---------------------------------------------------------

"What?"

She would have laughed at the look on his face if the situation hadn't been so odd.

''We'', she repeated, ''need to talk."

She shot Piper a pointed look. She got the message and started herding out everyone.

"Hey," shouted Leo as she pulled him by his ears, "I was eating".

At last when the room was empty, she looked at Percy. He was looking at the floor as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

"Can we please talk? "

"What do you want to talk about", he asked dumbly.

His pretence of innocence riled her up.

"You very well know about what", she said icily, "About what happened two days back."

"What is there to talk about?", he asked and she could see he was just over the edge. One push and he wouldn't be able to hold himself.

"Our.....mistake", she said hesitantly. That was it.

"Oh", he laughed without humour, "A mistake is what you're calling it now. A mistake that has been repeating in my head. A mistake that isn't letting me sleep at night. A mistake that I would happily do again", he was shouting by the end.

"Why?" she asked, pained by the raw hurt and anger in his voice.

"Because. I. Love. You", he said punctuating each word.

He suddenly looked tired and embarrassed all of a sudden.

She couldn't understand why.

"I love you too." she said.

And his shocked and happy face was the last thing she saw before she closed the gap between them.
