By me.
Piper pulled her jacket tighter around herself as the wind whipped through the snowy landscape. She glanced over at Annabeth, who was walking beside Percy. They were engrossed in conversation, occasionally laughing softly at something only they seemed to understand. It was the kind of easy companionship Piper longed for with Jason.
"Hey, Jason," Piper said, trying to catch his attention over his lively discussion with Leo about some new gadget they were planning to build. "I'm freezing here."
Jason looked over, momentarily distracted. "Oh, sorry, Pipes. Here, take my jacket." He started to shrug out of it, but before he could fully offer it to her, Leo interjected.
"Wait, dude, you're going to freeze!" Leo exclaimed, pulling a heated jacket from his backpack and tossing it to her. "Use this instead. I've got spares."
Piper forced a smile, thanking Leo as she slipped into the warm jacket. She couldn't help but steal another glance at Percy and Annabeth. They were still walking together, and Piper noticed Annabeth shivering slightly.
Without hesitation, Percy pulled off his sweatshirt and draped it around Annabeth's shoulders. Their friends, including Leo and Jason, cooed in admiration at the gesture.
"Aww, Percy, you're such a gentleman," Hazel said with a smile.
Piper felt a pang of jealousy. Why couldn't Jason notice when she was cold? Why didn't he offer her his jacket without being prompted? She frowned, feeling a mix of frustration and longing. She wanted what Percy and Annabeth had-the unspoken understanding, the caring gestures, the effortless connection.
As they continued their trek through the snow, Piper walked a little closer to Leo, who was now talking animatedly about his latest invention. At least Leo noticed when she was uncomfortable. Maybe not in the same way Percy noticed Annabeth, but Leo always had a knack for making her laugh and feel included.
She glanced back at Jason, who was still deep in conversation with Leo, completely oblivious to her feelings. Piper sighed inwardly, realizing that perhaps she had been hoping for something from Jason that he couldn't give her-not because he didn't care, but because their relationship was different.
Maybe, she thought, as she watched Percy and Annabeth share a quiet smile, it wasn't about comparing her relationship with theirs. Maybe it was about appreciating what she did have and finding happiness in her own unique way.
