By me

The halls of Goode High School buzzed with excitement as the homecoming dance approached. For Percy Jackson, however, excitement mingled with nerves as he wrestled with a secret crush on Annabeth Chase, his friend and classmate.

Despite countless adventures and battles alongside her, confessing his feelings seemed more daunting than facing any monster.

"Percy, dude, you've gotta ask her," Jason urged one afternoon, slapping him lightly on the back. "She's not gonna wait forever."

Percy sighed, running a hand through his unruly hair. "I know, but what if she says no? What if I mess it up?"

"You won't mess it up," Jason reassured him. "But if you don't ask her soon, I might have to step in."

Percy shot him a panicked look. "Wait, what do you mean?"

Jason grinned mischievously. "I mean, I might ask her myself. You wouldn't want that, would you?"

"You wouldn't" Percy said nervously.

"Try me" Jason replied, his eyes glinting with mischief.

Before Percy could protest, Jason sauntered off, leaving him to stew in his anxiety. All week, Percy tried to find the right moment to ask Annabeth to the dance, but every time he saw her, his courage failed him.

On Friday afternoon, with the dance only hours away, Jason cornered Annabeth near her locker, determined to carry out his threat.

"Annabeth," Jason began smoothly, taking her hand and preparing to ask her.

Just as he opened his mouth, Percy appeared at the end of the hallway, breathless but determined. He locked eyes with Annabeth, and something in his expression made her heart skip a beat.

Jason winked at Piper, who stood nearby watching with amusement. "Looks like he's finally doing it," she whispered, nudging him playfully.

Percy strode up to Annabeth, ignoring Jason's surprised expression. He dropped to one knee in front of her, producing a bouquet of flowers that had cost his whole pocket money.

"Annabeth," Percy said, his voice surprisingly steady, "will you do me the honor of coming to the homecoming dance with me?"

Annabeth's eyes widened in surprise, but a soft smile spread across her face. "Yes, Percy," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'd love to."

Piper and Jason couldn't contain their excitement, whooping and cheering from the sidelines as Percy stood up and pulled Annabeth into a heated kiss.

Leo, always the jokester, called out from the crowd, "Hey lovebirds, get a room!"

Percy and Annabeth laughed, ignoring the teasing as they savored the moment. Finally finding the courage to ask had been worth it, and as they shared a heartfelt kiss, the world around them seemed to fade away, leaving only the promise of a magical night ahead.
