The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the beach at Montauk. Percy and Annabeth had found a quiet spot, away from the crowds, just like old times.

They had been spending the day together, enjoying the salty breeze and the sound of the waves, but now, as the evening drew near, they were a little less concerned with the ocean and more focused on each other.

Sitting on a smooth rock with the waves gently lapping at the shore, Annabeth had her arms around Percy’s neck, her fingers running through his hair. Percy’s hands rested on her waist, pulling her closer as they kissed, lost in the moment.

“You’re so lucky we’re at a beach,” Annabeth murmured against his lips, a teasing smile playing on her face. “This is your dad’s domain, after all. He could show up at any moment.”

Percy chuckled, kissing her again. “What are the odds of him showing up right now?”

As if on cue, a deep, amused voice interrupted their moment. “Oh, I’d say the odds are pretty good, actually.”

Percy and Annabeth froze. They pulled apart and turned to see Poseidon standing a few feet away, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his face. He looked every bit the god of the sea, with his salt-and-pepper beard, flowing sea-green robes, and a knowing look in his eyes.

“Dad!” Percy yelped, scrambling to put some distance between himself and Annabeth. His face flushed crimson as he stood up. “I—uh—we were just—”

Poseidon waved a hand, silencing him. “Relax, Percy. I’ve seen worse things in my time.” His eyes flickered to Annabeth, who was also looking embarrassed but much more composed than Percy. “Annabeth,” Poseidon greeted with a nod, his tone amused but warm. “Still keeping this one in line, I see?”

Annabeth smiled sheepishly, but before she could reply, Poseidon’s grin widened mischievously. “But as much as I’m entertained by this little… display of affection, I think you two should get going. Before I decide to give your mom a call, Percy.”

Percy’s eyes widened in panic. “You wouldn’t.”

“Oh, I would,” Poseidon said with a chuckle. “You know how much Sally loves these little updates.”

Annabeth stifled a laugh, standing up beside Percy. “We were just about to leave, anyway.”

“Good idea,” Poseidon said, still grinning. “And Percy? Next time, maybe find somewhere less obvious. The sea may be vast, but I see everything that happens near it.”

Percy groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Noted. Thanks, Dad.”

With a final smirk, Poseidon gave them a casual wave. “Stay out of trouble, kids.”

As the god of the sea disappeared back into the water, Percy turned to Annabeth, still red-faced but grinning. “Well, that was horrifying.”

Annabeth shrugged, trying to hold back her laughter. “At least it wasn’t your mom.”

Percy shuddered. “Yeah, let’s not even think about that.”
