Rivalries And Blessings

Percy and Annabeth stood nervously before the towering figures of Athena and Poseidon. The two gods were sworn enemies, their rivalry dating back centuries.

But Percy and Annabeth had asked to speak with them, hoping to convince them to set aside their differences, if only for a moment.

"Mother, Lord Poseidon," Annabeth began, her voice trembling slightly. "Percy and I...we've been together for some time now. We love each other very much and we want your blessing on our relationship."

Athena's gray eyes narrowed as she regarded the young couple. "You dare to ask me to approve of a union between my daughter and the son of my ancient rival?" she said icily.

Poseidon frowned, his brow furrowing. "I must agree with Athena. We have been at odds for millennia. How can I possibly condone this relationship?"

Percy stepped forward, his sea-green eyes pleading. "Please, sir, my lady. I know you guys have your differences. But Annabeth means everything to me. I would do anything to be with her. Can't you just...set that aside? Just this once?"

Athena's gaze flickered between the two demigods, her expression unreadable. Poseidon studied his son closely, seeing the depth of his feelings for the daughter of his rival.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Poseidon sighed and raised a hand. "Very well. For your sake, Percy, I will put aside my differences with Athena. You and Annabeth have my blessing."

Annabeth's face lit up with joy and she threw her arms around Percy, who hugged her tightly. Athena's expression softened slightly as she watched the young couple.

"See that you treasure her, Percy Jackson," the goddess of wisdom said. "If you hurt my daughter, you will answer to me."

"I will, my lady. I promise," Percy said, holding Annabeth close.

As the two gods vanished in a flash of light, Percy and Annabeth shared a relieved, joyful kiss. Their parents' rivalry had been set aside, at least for now, and they were free to continue their journey together.
