By me.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over Camp Half-Blood as the demigods gathered in the pavilion to celebrate Annabeth's birthday. Decorations adorned the wooden structure, and the air was filled with laughter and chatter as friends and allies mingled.

Annabeth stood at the center of it all, a small smile playing on her lips as she greeted each person who approached her with a hug or a handshake. But beneath her cheerful demeanor, her heart raced with anticipation, knowing that the tradition of the camp awaited her.

It was a simple tradition, really. On a camper's birthday, it was customary to give them a kiss on the lips – a gesture of camaraderie and affection among the demigods. And while Annabeth had participated in this tradition countless times before, this year felt different.

Her gaze flickered across the pavilion, landing on two figures who stood at the edge of the crowd – Luke, the one everyone expected her to kiss becuase he had an obvious crush on her, and Percy, her best friend and the subject of her secret affections. She swallowed nervously, her pulse quickening at the thought of who she wanted to kiss.

As the moment approached, she silently pleaded with Percy, willing him to step forward before Luke could make his move. She caught his eye, and for a brief moment, she thought she saw a flicker of understanding there.

Suddenly, as if in response to her silent plea, Percy stepped forward, a mischievous glint in his sea-green eyes. Annabeth's heart skipped a beat as he made his way towards her, his movements deliberate and dramatic.

But before he could reach her, Luke began to step forward as well, a smirk playing on his lips.

Panic surged through Annabeth as she realized that Percy might not make it in time.

In a bold move that stunned everyone present, Percy quickened his pace, overtaking Luke in a flash. With a deft maneuver, he tripped Luke, causing him to stumble and fall to the ground with a surprised yelp.

"It was an accident!" Percy called out, his voice tinged with amusement as he extended a hand to help Luke up. But the mischief in his eyes betrayed his true intentions.

Leo, always one for dramatics, let out a cheer, his voice ringing out above the commotion. "Now that's what I call a grand entrance!"

The pavilion erupted into a chorus of laughter and cheers, the tension of the moment dissipating in the wake of Percy's daring move. Annabeth couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards her friend, knowing that he had saved her from an awkward encounter with Luke.

With a grateful smile, she turned to face Percy, her heart pounding in her chest as she leaned in to meet his lips with her own. The kiss was soft and fleeting, but it sent a jolt of electricity coursing through her veins.

As they pulled away, Percy winked at her, a playful grin tugging at the corners of his lips. Annabeth felt her cheeks flush with warmth, a shy smile tugging at her own lips as she savoured the moment.

But their moment was interrupted by the sound of voices nearby. Jason and Piper stood nearby, their expressions a mix of amusement and surprise.

"Well, that was unexpected," Piper remarked, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

Jason simply nodded in agreement.

As the celebrations continued around them, Annabeth couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over her. In that moment, surrounded by her friends and the person she cared about most, she knew that she was exactly where she was meant to be.
