By me

It was a sunny July morning, just a few days before Annabeth Chase’s birthday. Percy Jackson, now seventeen, was celebrating his own birthday at Camp Half-Blood.

The atmosphere was festive, with everyone gathered for a celebration in his honor. The campfire was crackling, and the aroma of freshly grilled food filled the air.

Poseidon, as usual, had given Percy a gift. This year, however, instead of a trident or some other aquatic-themed artifact, Poseidon had handed Percy a large envelope. Percy, curious, opened it to reveal a check for ten thousand dollars.

“Wow, Dad really went all out this time,” Percy said, holding up the check for everyone to see. A murmur of awe rippled through the crowd.

Piper, impressed by Poseidon’s generosity, looked at him with a smile. “What are you going to do with that? Buy yourself something nice?”

Percy grinned. “Actually, I’ve decided to spend it on something for Annabeth.”

A ripple of surprise and curiosity passed through the crowd. Annabeth, who had been quietly watching from the side, felt her heart skip a beat. Percy’s smile was both playful and mischievous, making her wonder what he had planned.

“I’m going to build a private library for Annabeth,” Percy announced, his voice filled with excitement. “A place where she can study, read, and just be surrounded by the knowledge she loves.”

The camp erupted into gasps of admiration. Piper’s eyes widened. “That’s such a thoughtful gift, Percy. Annabeth’s going to be over the moon!”

Hazel’s face lit up with awe. “I can’t believe you’re doing that for her. It’s perfect.”

Jason and Frank, who had been standing nearby, exchanged exasperated looks.

“Well, that’s one way to make us look bad,” Jason sighed.

“Seriously,” Frank added, shaking his head. “How are we supposed to compete with that?”

Percy chuckled, shaking his head. “You guys don’t need to compete. It’s not about outdoing each other; it’s about showing we care.”

Annabeth, who had been quietly listening, finally stepped forward. Her eyes were misty with emotion, and she took Percy’s hands in hers.

“Percy, you know how much this means to me. You always know how to make me feel special.”

Percy’s grin widened, and he pulled her into a hug. “I’m glad you like it. I just wanted to give you something that reflects how much I appreciate and love you.”

As the sun began to set and the party continued, the mood was one of warmth and camaraderie. The other campers were buzzing with excitement about Percy’s thoughtful gift, and Annabeth felt overwhelmed with gratitude.

In the coming days, as Annabeth’s birthday approached, Percy worked with builders and camp helpers to turn the idea into reality.

The library, once completed, would become a cherished sanctuary for readers, a testament to Percy’s love and understanding of the things Annabeth held dear.
