Jason held the tiny spider gingerly in his hands, its legs wiggling as it tried to escape his grip.

The rest of the demigods on the Argo II let out relieved cheers, clapping Jason on the back for his brave capture. Even Percy gave him a thumbs-up from the helm.

"Okay," Jason said, his eyes darting to the creature, "I caught the spider."

The victory was short-lived, however, as Annabeth, who had been observing from her spot near the mast, raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms.

"Now, release the little guy outside," she said in her typical calm, logical tone.

Jason blinked. "We're...in the middle of the ocean."

Annabeth nodded like that fact was irrelevant. "Yes?"

Jason glanced back at the others for support. Piper was biting her lip to hide her smile, while Leo was already snickering from his perch by the engines. Percy just shrugged, clearly not planning on helping.

"Uh...Annabeth, is this a...water spider?" Jason asked, trying to wrap his head around the situation. "Can it breathe underwater?"

Annabeth, clearly not getting the point, tilted her head slightly and answered, “No, it'll probably die a horrible, painful death! Now out it pops.”

Jason stared at her in disbelief, then looked down at the spider. “You’re asking me to just drown it in the ocean?”

Annabeth rolled her eyes, a small smirk playing on her lips. “Unless you want to keep it as a pet?”

Jason's expression shifted between confused and resigned as he looked at the wriggling spider. “I...uh...guess it’s better in the ocean than in my room…”

Before he could argue further, Piper piped up. "You should name it first. You know, for closure."

Jason shot her a look of pure disbelief, but seeing the team's wide grins, he sighed in defeat. "Fine. His name is...uh...Splashy."

"Excellent choice," Percy said, trying not to laugh.

With a long-suffering groan, Jason walked to the edge of the Argo II and, after a quick, silent apology to the poor spider, he gently flicked it into the vast sea below.

Everyone leaned over the rail to watch the tiny creature fall toward the water, a collective silence falling over the group. Finally, Leo clapped his hands, breaking the tension.

“Well, there goes Splashy. Short-lived, but unforgettable.”

Jason glared at him, shaking his head. "I hate you all."

But as they all broke into laughter, even Jason couldn't help the smile tugging at his lips. After all, it wasn’t every day you gave a spider a dramatic ocean send-off.
