By me. I got this idea that Percy would've never really planned a proposal. It would have just slipped out and so here is my version of 'The Proposal".
Percy Jackson wasn't known for his subtlety or his knack for romance. He was more of a "charge in and fight monsters" kind of guy. But when it came to Annabeth Chase, he was willing to try anything.
It was a warm summer evening, and they found themselves sitting on a secluded beach near Camp Half-Blood. The gentle waves lapped at the shore, creating a soothing rhythm. Percy and Annabeth sat side by side, their toes buried in the cool sand as they watched the sun setting over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water.
For a while, they sat in comfortable silence, enjoying the tranquility and each other's presence. Percy absentmindedly played with a small seashell, turning it over in his hands.
"You know," Annabeth said, breaking the silence, "I always loved the beach. It's peaceful."
Percy nodded, smiling. "Yeah, it is. Especially with you here."
Annabeth leaned her head on his shoulder, and Percy felt a surge of warmth in his chest. He looked at her, her blonde curls catching the last light of the day, her gray eyes reflecting the sea.
Without thinking, he said, "Marry me."
Annabeth's head shot up, her eyes wide with surprise. "What?"
Percy blinked, realizing what he had just blurted out. His face turned red, and he stammered, "I-I mean... I..."
Annabeth's expression softened, a hopeful smile tugging at her lips. "Percy, did you just propose to me?"
Percy swallowed hard, his heart pounding. Seeing the hope in her eyes gave him the courage to continue.
"Yeah, I guess I did. Annabeth, I know it just slipped out, but it's how I really feel. I can't imagine my life without you. We've faced so much together, and I want to face everything with you for the rest of my life. So, yes, I'm asking you: will you marry me?"
Tears welled up in Annabeth's eyes as she reached for his hand, her voice trembling with emotion. "Yes, Percy. Yes, I will marry you."
Percy's heart soared as he pulled her into a tight embrace, feeling a sense of joy and relief wash over him. He had unwittingly proposed to the love of his life, and she had said yes.
They stayed like that for a few moments, wrapped up in each other. Finally, Annabeth pulled back slightly, a playful glint in her eyes.
"You know, Seaweed Brain, that was the most unplanned, impromptu proposal I've ever heard."
Percy chuckled, brushing a stray curl from her face. "Yeah, well, I'm not exactly known for my planning skills. But I meant every word."
Annabeth smiled, leaning in to kiss him. The kiss was sweet and tender, a promise of all the adventures to come.
Suddenly, a loud whoop interrupted them. They turned to see their friends emerging from the woods, clearly having witnessed the entire scene. Grover, Thalia, and the Stoll brothers were grinning from ear to ear.
"Congrats, you two!" Thalia called out, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"About time!" Grover added, his horns practically glowing with excitement.
Before Percy and Annabeth could react, the Stoll brothers rushed forward. "Time for a celebratory swim!" Travis declared.
Percy barely had time to protest before he and Annabeth were lifted off their feet and carried towards the water. They were laughing too hard to put up much of a fight. With a splash, they were both tossed into the sea.
Percy surfaced first, sputtering and grinning. Annabeth came up next to him, wiping water from her face and laughing. "You know, I should have seen that coming."
Percy swam closer, pulling her into his arms again. "Yeah, but it's kind of perfect, isn't it?"
Annabeth smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "It is."
Their friends cheered from the shore, and Percy knew in that moment that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together. With Annabeth by his side, he felt ready for anything. And as they kissed again, surrounded by the sea and their friends, Percy couldn't help but feel like the luckiest demigod in the world.
