By me.

Annabeth sighed as she walked through the school hallway, keeping an eye out for Percy. He was late for lunch again, and she had a pretty good idea why. She paused when she saw Piper waiting by the door, arms crossed, looking amused.

"He got detention again, didn't he?" Annabeth asked with an exasperated smile.

Piper rolled her eyes, nodding. "Oh, you should've seen him. This time, he told Mr. Branson he didn't do his math homework because a giant squid tried to eat it."

Annabeth stifled a laugh. Leave it to Percy to turn something like forgetting homework into a monster attack.

"So...did you take care of it?" Annabeth asked, glancing at Piper with a hopeful smile.

Piper grinned, crossing her arms. "Of course. I told Mr. Branson that Percy's been dealing with some 'personal challenges,' and he let him off with just a warning."

Just then, Percy came out of the classroom, his face lighting up as soon as he spotted Annabeth.

"Hey, Wise Girl!" he greeted her with a grin. "You'll be happy to know I got off with just a warning this time."

Annabeth gave him a knowing look. "Thanks to Piper and her charmspeak, I'm guessing?"

Percy scratched the back of his head sheepishly, looking between her and Piper. "Maybe...?"

Annabeth let out a sigh, but the hint of a smile on her face betrayed her amusement. She had to admit, there was something endearing about how he always managed to find his way out of trouble—and with his unique Percy style.

"Okay, Seaweed Brain," she said, linking her arm through his. "Let's get to lunch before you do anything else that'll get you in trouble."

As they walked away, Piper called after them, "Try to stay out of detention, Percy!"

He turned back and gave Piper a thumbs-up. "I'll do my best!"

Annabeth chuckled. "Your best usually leads to another detention. Good thing Piper's in most of your classes."

Percy just laughed, squeezing her hand. "Hey, life's more fun when there's a little trouble, right?"

Annabeth just shook her head, knowing that with Percy around, life would never be boring.
