Feeling her brother's body go limp after snapping his neck, Azrael bit down harder before letting him go. The King's body fell to the floor with a thud, blood spilling from his neck to the floor. Looking down at him, Azrael saw the light in his eyes were gone. Aspen BlackWood was dead.

Lifting her head upon the loud howls that filled the nightly air from both the outside and inside of the castle, howls full of pain and anger, Azrael shifted back to her human form.

Naked, her body covered in wounds, she turned when her mate came over, her herself covered in wounds and blood from her own battle and took off her shirt. Wrapping around Azrael's waist.

Azrael growled, not wanting others to see her mate shirtless but Iris growled back. Not taking any of her mate's shit at the moment. Seeing that, Azrael decided to leave it alone for the time being.

She didn't stop Iris when the shorter Alpha stood in front of her, back against her chest, and made Azrael wrap her arms around her. Using her body to hid Azrael's breast as sounds of thundering steps became louder and louder, getting closer to the throne room.

After a moment, the large doors slammed open and guards filled the room. Their eyes moving from the dead body of Elijah and Maya GoldRiver then towards their king. Anger flashing in their eyes at the sight of their fallen king who laid at the feet of their enemy.

Why none of them didn't hear the fighting was a mystery. Maybe they were too far to hear it or maybe it was because Aspen had a witch to cast a spell all those years ago on the throne room to not let a sound out to kill his family undetected. No one knows.

Snapping their eyes at the two mates, the guards went to take a step towards them only to pause at the glare Azrael gave them.

She stared at them for a moment, chin resting on Iris's head. "Your King is dead." She spoke aloud, her words echoing throughout the room. Blood tricking down her face and neck from the claw marks over her closed, right eye. She tilted her head. "Met your new Queen."

Hearing that, the warriors silently glanced at one another. Unsure on what to do. Iris was staring at them, ready to give her wolf control again in case of a fight. Her hands on her mate's arms that were wrapped around her.

After a long silent moment, one of the warriors step forward, everyone now watching him and witness him knelt down on one knee. Baring his neck in submission. "Long live the Queen!" He said.

A moment with hesitation, another follow suit. Getting on one knee and baring his neck. "Long live the Queen!"

Then another. "Long live the Queen."

And another. "Long live the Queen." Until ever single of the warriors knelt down to Azrael.

Feeling Iris relaxed at that, Azrael smiled gently and kissed her forehead. Letting out a deep breath, Azrael stood up straight, Iris still using her body to cover her, before the Alpha spoke. "First order of business, clean up this mess, would you?"

Bowing their heads deeper, the warriors silently stood up and began cleaning the corpses and blood from the throne room.

When moving the formal king's body, one of the younger warriors went to give Azrael the crown made of gold but she waved him off. "Get rid of it." Was all she said before leaving with Iris at her side.

Out in the hallway of the thrown room, the two stop at the sight of the rest of the group walking over to them. A few covered in wounds and blood. "So," Ash grinned, arms crossed over her chest. "the war is finally over, huh?" Azrael nodded, her expression cold. "Yes, you're correct."

Ash's grin widened. "Thank the Goddess. This war stuff was getting pretty boring." Fawn elbowed her in the stomach, cheeks slightly red. "Don't say that in front of the Alpha, Ash."
