As I walked up to Lester's house, my heart sank. I knew something was wrong. When he answered the door, his face was twisted in anger. He didn't even let me hug him before he started to explain what he saw between me and Charlie. I was so confused, I didn't understand how a simple hug could make him so upset.

As he explained, I could see the hurt in his eyes. He looked like he was about to break. I took his hand and pulled him to the couch, sitting him down next to me. "Lester, please listen to me," I said softly. "Charlie was helping me find out when the games in California are for your hockey games. I wanted to surprise you."

He looked at me with guilt in his eyes. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice breaking. "I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. I just love you so much and the thought of losing you..."

I put my finger to his lips to silence him. "You're not going to lose me, Lester. I love you too." I leaned in and kissed him softly, pouring all my love into that one moment. It was sad, but loving. Sweet, but romantic.

As we broke apart, he pulled me into a tight embrace. "I'm sorry," he whispered into my hair. "I never want to lose you."

"You won't," I promised, running my fingers through his hair. "We can get through anything together."

And with that, we sat there holding each other, our love stronger than ever before.
