Callie Averman, Charlie Conway, and Les Averman had always been close. They played hockey together for the Minnesota Ducks and now they were representing the USA in the Junior Goodwill Games. Callie and Charlie were staying in separate dorm rooms, but they found ways to sneak away and spend time together.
One evening, Charlie suggested they take a walk around the campus. They strolled hand in hand, enjoying the warm California evening.
As they walked, they talked about everything and anything. They shared their hopes and dreams, their fears and insecurities. They laughed and joked and simply enjoyed being together.
Charlie stopped and turned to Callie, looking deep into her eyes. "Callie, I know we've been through a lot together," he said. "And I know we're both still young, but I can't imagine my life without you. You are the most amazing girl I've ever met, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Callie felt her heart skip a beat as tears welled up in her eyes. "Charlie, I love you too," she whispered. "You make me so happy. I can't imagine my life without you either."
Charlie took her hand and led her to a secluded spot, under a tree. He pulled out a small box from his pocket and opened it. Inside was a beautiful silver necklace with a pendant in the shape of a heart.
"I know it's not much," he said, "but I wanted to give you something to remember this moment. Something to show you how much I love you."
Callie was speechless as Charlie put the necklace around her neck. She turned to him and threw her arms around his neck, kissing him passionately. They stayed there, under the tree, wrapped up in each other for what seemed like hours.
Suddenly, they heard a loud cough behind them. It was Les, looking awkward and uncomfortable.
"Uh, sorry to interrupt, lovebirds," he said, grinning. "But it's getting late and we have a game tomorrow."
Callie and Charlie laughed and joined Les, walking back to the dorms with their arms around each other. They knew that no matter what the future held, they would always have each other's backs.
As they walked, Callie couldn't help but feel grateful for having two amazing guys in her life. She was lucky to have such a loving boyfriend and such a caring brother. And as for the Junior Goodwill Games, well, they knew they were going to bring home the gold.
