As you walk by, your heart skips a beat when you see him. Fulton Reed, the newest addition to the JV hockey team, catches your eye with his black hair and muscular build. You're a freshman cheerleader, and you're wearing your uniform with your hair straightened, hoping to make a good impression.

"Who's that?" you ask your best friend Angie, pointing to Fulton.

"New guy, just transferred from Stillwater," Angie says, smirking. "He's definitely your type."

You roll your eyes playfully. "Shut up, Angie."

But Angie isn't wrong. You can't help but feel drawn to Fulton as you watch him skate across the ice, his stick slicing through the air.

A few weeks go by, and you see Fulton with Heather, a spoiled brat who knows you like him. You feel jealous and sad.

"Why does she get to have him?" you complain to Angie. "She's such a bitch."

"I know, right?" Angie agrees. "But don't worry, he's probably just using her for now."

You hope Angie is right, but you can't shake the feeling that Fulton is really into Heather. You go to Charlie Conway, your brother's enemy on the JV hockey team, and confide in him.

"Why would he kiss me? I'm not even half pretty. He gave her his sweater, it's just polyester. But he likes her better. Wish I were Heather..." you mutter to Charlie, feeling heartbroken.

Charlie understands and hugs you. "Hey, don't talk like that. You're beautiful, and you deserve someone who sees that."

Just then, Fulton and Heather walk up to you and Charlie. You look away from Fulton, feeling embarrassed and hurt.

"Hey," Fulton says, his eyes flickering to you for a moment before settling on Charlie. "You guys coming to the game tonight?"

Charlie nods, but you just stare at the ground, feeling too emotional to speak.

After they leave, you slam your locker and storm away, feeling angry and frustrated. You go to Angie's dorm room and pour your heart out to her. She agrees that Heather is a bitch and tries to console you.

"He doesn't know what he's missing," she says, patting your back. "You'll find someone better, I promise."

That night, you go to sleep sobbing, wishing things were different. But little did you know, Fulton was watching you from afar, feeling guilty for hurting you and wanting to make things right.

"I need to talk to her," he tells Charlie the next day.

Charlie nods. "Good luck."

Fulton finds you sitting alone in the bleachers, staring out at the ice. He hesitates for a moment before sitting down next to you.

"Hey," he says softly.

You turn to him, surprised. "What do you want?"

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry," he says, looking down at his hands. "I know I hurt you, and I didn't mean to. I just...I like you, okay? And I didn't know how to tell you."

You stare at him, feeling a mix of emotions. "What about Heather?"

"She's just a friend," Fulton says quickly. "I never wanted to hurt you. I just didn't know how to handle my feelings."

You take a deep breath, feeling overwhelmed. "I don't know what to say."

Fulton takes your hand, and you feel a jolt of electricity. "Just say you'll give me a chance. I promise I'll make it up to you."

You think for a moment before nodding slowly. "Okay. I'll give you a chance."

Fulton grins, and you feel a flutter in your chest. Maybe Angie was right. Maybe he really was your type after all.
