My name is Sabrina Smith, and I'm a freshman in high school. I'm also a hockey player, and it's my first time attending a real school since I've been homeschooled my whole life. I'm nervous, but I have my boyfriend, Luis Mendoza, by my side. We're both freshmen, and we're in love.

One day, during lunch, I see Luis flirting with the head cheerleader, Mindy. My heart shatters, and I can't believe what I'm seeing. "Hey, Luis, what's going on?" I ask, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Nothing, babe. Just talking to Mindy here," Luis says, his arm draped over Mindy's shoulder.

"I don't think that's just talking," I say, my voice shaking. "What's going on, Luis?"

"It's nothing, Sabrina. I swear. We're just talking about cheerleading stuff," Luis says, trying to reassure me.

But I can't shake the feeling of betrayal. "I need to go," I say, getting up from the table.

Connie and Julie, my friends and teammates, notice that something is wrong and immediately take me to the bathroom to cool off and clean up my makeup. "What's going on, Sabrina?" Connie asks, looking concerned.

"I saw Luis flirting with Mindy. I can't believe it," I say, my voice breaking.

Julie puts her arm around me. "You deserve better than that, Sabrina. You don't need a guy like Luis."

"But I love him," I say, starting to cry.

"Love isn't enough, Sabrina," Connie says, her voice gentle but firm. "You need someone who respects you and treats you right."

I try to cool off and head to my next class, which I have with Luis. When I sit down in my seat, I see that Luis is sitting next to me and has his arm around me like nothing happened. But everything has changed, and I can't shake the feeling of betrayal. "What's going on, Sabrina? You've been acting weird all day," Luis says, looking concerned.

"I saw you flirting with Mindy at lunch, Luis. I can't believe you'd do that to me," I say, my voice shaking.

"It meant nothing, Sabrina. I swear. You know I love you," Luis says, trying to reassure me.

"I need some space, Luis. I can't deal with this right now," I say, getting up from my seat.

At practice later that day, everything is the same as usual. But after practice, I see Luis kissing Mindy, and I can't take it anymore. I start sobbing, and Luis comes over to me, trying to explain that it meant nothing to him. "I don't want to hear it, Luis. We're done," I say, my voice shaking.

I walk back to the dorms, where I find Connie and Julie hanging out with guys. They both comfort me and tell me that I deserve better. "He's not worth your tears, Sabrina," Julie says, hugging me tightly.

"I can't believe he'd do this to me," I say, crying into Julie's shoulder.

"You're better off without him, Sabrina. You have us, and you have hockey," Connie says, putting her arm around me.

That night, I go to bed sobbing, feeling hurt and confused. I can't believe that Luis could do this to me, but I know that I have to stay strong and focus on what matters most in my life.
