Separated (A. Banks)

As the sun began to set, I sat on my bed scrolling through my phone, feeling a sense of loneliness without Adam by my side. We used to spend every moment together, but ever since Coach Orion moved him to the Varsity team, things had changed.

But then, there was a knock on my door. I jumped up, my heart racing as I opened the door to find Adam standing there, holding a bouquet of roses.

"Hailey, I'm so sorry for everything that's happened. I should have never let hockey come between us," Adam said, his voice filled with regret.

I couldn't help but smile, feeling my heart swell with love for him. "It's okay, Adam. I forgive you," I said, taking the roses from him and wrapping my arms around his neck.

He leaned in and kissed me deeply, his hands wrapping around my waist as we stood in the doorway of my room.

After a few moments, we broke apart, both of us grinning from ear to ear. "Come on, let's go hang out in your room," I said, taking his hand and leading him inside.

We spent the rest of the day cuddled up in my bed, watching movies and talking about all the things we'd missed out on since we'd been separated.

As dinner time approached, my parents called us down to eat. I could feel the tension in the air as we sat down at the table, my parents eyeing Adam warily.

But as we began to eat, Adam's hand found its way to my thigh, the same way it always did when we were together. My parents smiled and welcomed him warmly, happy to see their daughter so happy.

After dinner, we went back up to my room and laid down in my bed, watching TV until we both fell asleep, wrapped up in each other's arms.

"I love you, Hailey," Adam whispered, his voice filled with emotion.

"I love you too, Adam," I replied, feeling grateful to have him back in my life and in my bed.

As we drifted off to sleep, I knew that everything was going to be okay. As long as we had each other, nothing else mattered.
