Mighty ducks imagine/ preference

I got some news.. pt. 2 (L. Mendoza)

As I boarded the plane to Minnesota, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. I had packed mostly Luis's clothes, wanting to feel close to him even though we were miles apart. I didn't sleep that night, eagerly anticipating my trip to see my love.

As I arrived at the airport, I immediately called Luis on the pay phone. "Hey babe," I said, my voice a bit groggy from lack of sleep.

"Hey Amor, what's up?" Luis asked, concern in his voice.

"I couldn't sleep," I lied, not wanting to worry him.

"Okay, um, fuck," Luis mumbled, clearly frustrated.

I quickly changed the subject. "Hey um, what's Connie or Julie's number again?" I asked.

"Um, why Amor?" Luis asked, a hint of suspicion in his voice.

"I was just asking," I lied again, feeling guilty for keeping secrets from him.

Luis reluctantly gave me both numbers, groaning in pain as he did so. "Are you okay?" I asked, worried for him.

"Yeah, I'm fine, my um, back just hurts," Luis replied, trying to brush it off.

I knew he was in pain, but didn't want to press him further. We both said our 'I love you's' and hung up.

I then called Connie, feeling more relaxed as I chatted with her. "Hey, is this Connie?" I asked.

"Yes, who's this?" Connie answered.

"This is Luis's girlfriend, Destiny," I said, feeling a sense of pride as I said his name.

"Oh hey!" Connie said, sounding excited to talk to me.

I explained that I was coming to visit Luis and asked if Connie or Julie could pick me up from the airport. "Yeah, we can, we will be waiting for you," Connie said, happy to help.

"Okay, thank you so much, see you two tomorrow," I said, feeling grateful for their kindness.

As I hung up, I heard my plane boarding. I rushed to my seat and sat down, feeling a sense of anticipation as I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep, listening to romantic music on my Walkman.
