Amber walked into Mickey's diner where her mom worked and saw her looking sad, scared, and stressed. "Amber, Hans passed..." her mom said, and Amber froze. Tears formed in her eyes as she left for Fulton's house. When she got there, she was balling her eyes out, and Fulton was worried. When she finally calmed down, she told him what happened, and he comforted her all night.

A few days later, it was time for Hans' funeral. Amber curled her hair, put on a black strapless dress with black pumps, and wore a gold cross necklace, earrings, and some gold bracelets. She did her makeup and tried to look her best, even though she was going through the worst time of her life. Her mom drove her to the funeral, and she met Fulton and the rest of the hockey team. She hugged Fulton and kissed his lips, and they walked up to the grave together.
As they started to pray, Fulton's arm wrapped around her waist, bringing her into him. Coach Bombay walked up with a jersey in hand and unfolded it, laying it on top of the casket. Hans' name was on the back of it with his number 11. "Every time you touch the ice, remember that Hans is the one who taught us to fly," Bombay said, looking at the hockey players. Amber started crying more, and Charlie walked away, also crying. She took off the bracelet Hans had given her and put it on the casket as Julie put roses on it.
She went over to Bombay and hugged him, crying into his shoulder. "I'm sorry about Charlie, and I'm so, so, so sorry I didn't call you," Amber said. "Amber, it's okay, I promise. Just know I'm here for you, kiddo," Bombay said. "Now go see Fulton," he instructed. She shook her head and went over to Fulton, standing in front of him. Fulton kissed her shoulder, and she turned around and hugged him. She moved his hair from his face and behind his ears and kissed him on the lips.
"I love you," she whispered to him.
"I love you too, Amber," Fulton replied, holding her close. "I'll always be here for you."
