You're lying on your bed, reading a book, when your phone starts to ring. You recognize the number as Luis's, your boyfriend. You answer, and hear his voice on the other end, "Hey Amor, we need to talk..."

Your heart races. What could he want to talk about? Is everything okay? You ask him, trying to hide the fear in your voice.

"Don't worry, it's not bad," Luis reassures you. "I just got some news I wanted to share with you."

You let out a sigh of relief. "Okay, what's the news?"

"I got accepted to play hockey at Eden Hall in Minnesota!" Luis says excitedly.

Your heart sinks. Minnesota? That's so far away. You try to sound happy for him. "Wow, Luis, that's amazing! Congratulations!"

"I know it's far, but I promise I'll come down to visit you," he says, sensing your hesitation.

You smile softly, but tears start to well up in your eyes. "Love, don't cry," Luis says, trying to comfort you. "I promise I'm coming down soon to visit. I just have to get some stuff and then I'll be there."

You sniffle, trying to hold back the tears. "Okay, I love you," you say quietly.

"I love you too, Hermosa," Luis says. You hear the line go quiet as he hangs up.

As you go back to reading, your mind wanders. What if he cheats on you? What if you never see him again? What if he leaves you for some Minnesota girl who is the complete opposite of you?

You try to push those thoughts out of your mind and focus on the positive. Luis got accepted to play hockey at a great school. And he promised to come visit you. Maybe you two could plan some fun things to do together when he does come down.

But the fear lingers, and you can't help but worry about the future. As you close your book and turn off the light, you can't help but wonder what lies ahead for you and Luis.
