You and Luis sat on the bench, enjoying the peaceful moment that surrounded you. The park was quiet, save for the occasional chirping of birds and rustling of leaves. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow on everything around you.
"I'm going to miss this," Luis said, breaking the silence. "I'm going to miss this park, this city, and most of all, I'm going to miss you."
You felt a lump form in your throat. You had known this day was coming, but it didn't make the reality any easier to bear. "I'm going to miss you too, Luis. So much."
Luis turned to you, taking your hand in his. "But we'll make it work, baby. We'll call. We'll do whatever it takes to stay connected."
You leaned your head against his shoulder, feeling his strong arms wrap around you. "I know. But I wanted to do something before you go. Something that will make you miss me more than you will."
Luis raised an eyebrow, a small smile playing on his lips. "Oh yeah? What did you have in mind?"
You took a deep breath, steeling yourself for what you were about to say. "I wrote you a letter. A letter for every day that you're gone. So you'll always have something to remind you of me."
Luis looked at you with a mix of surprise and love, his eyes shining. "Baby, that's amazing. You didn't have to do that."
You smiled softly, reaching into your bag and pulling out a stack of envelopes tied with a ribbon. "I wanted to. I know how much you love letters, and I wanted you to have a piece of me with you always."
As Luis took the letters from you, his eyes filled with tears. "Thank you, baby. I don't know what to say."
You leaned in and kissed him softly, pouring all of your love and emotion into the moment. "You don't have to say anything. Just promise me that you'll read one letter every day, and that you'll come back to me soon."
Luis nodded, pulling you into a tight embrace. "I promise, baby. I'll come back to you as soon as I can. And until then, I'll have your letters to keep me company."
As you held each other close, the sun finally set on your last day together. But in your hearts, you knew that your love would endure, no matter the distance between you.
The next day, Luis was gone. You woke up to an empty bed and a heavy heart. You missed him already, and it was only the first day. But you had a plan. You sat down at your desk and began to write.
You wrote about everything. You wrote about your day, your dreams, your fears. You wrote about the little things that reminded you of him, like the way the wind blew through the trees or the smell of coffee in the morning. You wrote about how much you loved him, and how much you missed him.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Every day, you wrote a new letter, pouring your heart and soul onto the page. You talked about everything and nothing, just happy to have a way to stay connected to the one you loved.
And then, one day, Luis came back. He walked through the door of your house you shared with your parents his eyes shining with joy. And there, on the coffee table, were all of your letters, stacked neatly in a pile.
He picked them up, one by one, reading each one with care. And as he read, he felt his heart swell with love for you. He had missed you so much, but your letters had kept him going. They had reminded him of everything he loved about you, and everything he had to come back to.
He turned to you, tears in his eyes. "Thank you, baby. For everything. I couldn't have done it without you."
You smiled softly, taking his hand in yours. "I love you, Luis. And I always will. No matter what."
As Luis pulled you into his arms, you knew that your love had endured. And that, no matter what life threw at you, you would always find a way to make it work.
