The rain started coming down heavier than before, making the roads very slippery. Considering I've got two more hours until getting home, it would be in my best interest to pull over. But it's been a long day of traveling and I just want to be home. My parents live four hours away from me and I spent the weekend at their house. Now I'm on my way home in the middle of a thunderstorm. The lightening is so bright it makes the night sky look like day time.

While turning the radio down on low, I squint my eyes, trying to see the road ahead. The headlights are only letting me see so far. As I'm starting to feel more comfortable driving in this weather, my car starts making an odd sound. It starts slowing down so I park to the side of the road. Things couldn't possibly get any worse. A groan leaves my mouth when looking out my window and seeing the heavy rain outside.

Feeling defeated I called for some help but they said it could take hours for a tow truck to come get my car. In the meantime I called a good friend to come help me out. A few rings later and I hear a familiar voice. "Hey Conner," I sigh into the phone. "I need some help." I say. After explaining the situation, he agreed to come pick me up.

Since he lives so far away, it's going to take him a while to get here. It felt like forever but was probably only forty five minutes before he shows up. I watch as he gets out of the car and rushes over to where I'm sitting in mine. He gives me a warm smile as I unlock the door, letting him climb into the car. Once the door is closed he lets out a breath and runs his fingers through his wet hair.

"It's really cold out there." He states.

"I bet," I smirk. "You look like you just walked through a blizzard."

He playfully rolls his eyes at me. A frown appears on his face as he looks at my car. "So what happened?" He asks. I pretty much explain that I'm not sure why my car stopped but suddenly it's as if the battery died. Which is strange because this a new car and I've only had it for maybe six months. "Well let me take a look." He gets out and checks under the hood of the car.

A few moments later he comes back telling me that the battery in my car needs replaced because it's old. But he agreed to give me a ride home so I grab all my things and throw them into the trunk of his car and we leave. The first few minutes are silent as he warms up the car with the heat. He glances over at me, seeing how cold I am in these wet clothes.

"Here," he reaches into the backseat and pulls out a hoodie, handing it to me. "You seem like you need it."

I thank him while shrugging off my wet jacket and putting on his hoodie. It actually started to help warm me up plus having the heat on. "Thanks again for coming out so late and doing this." I smile.

"Of course. What are friends for?" He replies.

We finally pull into the driveway of my house before he shuts the car off. The rain is still pouring but not nearly as bad as earlier. He helps me carry my things to the front door and I thank him for it. "Well I should get going," he smiles softly.

"Right, I'll see you at work." I nod. He starts to leave when suddenly stopping at the door. I watch as he turns around to face me. There's a slight frown on his face. "Is everything okay?" I ask. He doesn't say anything, instead, steps closer to me, cupping my cheeks in his hands.

"I...I love you..." he whispers, his eyes darting down to my lips. This caught me by surprise but he didn't give me much time to react before his lips were pressed firmly against mine. My arms wrap around him, deepening the kiss. It didn't last long before he pulls away to rest his forehead against mine.

"I love you too." I replied. He smiles at me while pulling me closer to him. Part of me always had a small crush on him and for some reason never acted on it. I'm very happy that he did.

"Now I should get going," he pulls away, his touch lingering on my cheek.

"I'll see you tomorrow then." I grin.

"Tomorrow." He replies before leaving my house. That kiss kept a smile on my face as I got ready for bed. Now I'm excited to see him tomorrow.
