Taylor's POV

I paced up and down my hotel room, twisting my hands together as I glanced towards my phone every time I passed it. I was a nervous wreck. I hadn't properly dated in so long, and this was brand new to me again. Joe and I hadn't had a proper date in years before our relationship fell apart, so I'd forgotten how it worked a little.

Even though I'd been out with Travis twice already, we'd done nothing more than share the simple brush of hands. It had been so electrifying that I knew that kissing him would tear me apart. I felt like tonight would be the time for it to happen, so I was a compete mess.

What if I messed it up? This was the first guy I'd fallen hard and fast for, and I couldn't bear it if I ruined another relationship. I wasn't twenty-five anymore.

My phone pinged and I lunged for it, heart jumping into overdrive as I scrambled to unlock it and swipe down to read my notifications. But it was just Selena. She'd been sending me funny videos all day, and every time she did, my heart skipped a beat thinking it was Travis. I hadn't heard from him since last night, when we'd texted until the early hours of the morning. God, as nervous as I was about this, I loved the beginning of relationships when it was all talking and blushing and first kisses. He was the sweetest man I had ever met, and I loved how easy it was to talk to him.

I paced for another while before getting bored and curling up on the couch with the most recent book I'd been reading, silencing my phone so I wouldn't continue jumping at every notification. There was no way I would text him first; I didn't want to seem over eager. I didn't want him to know how hard I'd fallen until I knew where he stood. But then again, he had rented out an entire restaurant just for us. That wasn't something most men would even consider doing, but he'd just told me out of the blue that he had because of my safety. I was glad he'd told me that over the phone, because I'd blushed red and had a hard time getting out my next sentence.

Luckily, I got pretty into the book and read for almost forty-five minutes before reaching over to grab my phone. I bit down on a smile when I saw that he had texted me while I'd had my phone on silent and clicked on it. God, the butterflies this man gave me just by popping up as a notification. I was helpless.

Travis: I'm picking you up in an hour

Me: That's very considerate of you, I'll give my driver the night off then

Travis: I'm nothing if not thorough

Travis: See you soon Miss Swift

God, I loved how he slyly flirted by using my last name, and I knew that he knew I adored it. Once I'd read our short conversation about six times, I jumped up and headed to the bathroom. I'd showered already this morning, but I was nervous. I tied my hair out of the way and shaved my legs and underarms again, even though they were perfectly smooth. It did make me calm down a little though, and I wrapped a towel around myself with hands that didn't shake.

But then I had the outfit catastrophe. I'd spent all morning trying to pick an outfit from my limited selection, and the bed and the floor around it was a mess of all my clothes. There was only so many things I'd brought with me, so I didn't have as much to pick from as I'd like. Should I wear a dress? But I didn't want to seem too formal. Pants seemed too casual, but a skirt was either too summery or too casual as well.

But then again, this was dinner. Dinner meant dresses. So eventually, I settled on a pale yellow dress, leaning into the summeryness of it and fitting my feet into little white sandals. When I was dressed, I went back into the bathroom and frowned at my hair. It was perfectly decent, but it just looked wrong cascading loosely over my shoulders. Grabbing a few hair ties, I stuffed my hair into a calculated messy bun, leaving a few strands hanging down around my face.
