this one shot is brought to you by the highly enthusiastic groupchat who spammed me in all caps when i came up with this idea (you know who you are)
Las Vegas, Cartel K Headquarters
Travis' POV
"No, we need him alive!"
"Who gives a shit, just tell them to bring a body and we'll deal with the rest!"
I sighed, rubbing my eyes as the heated conversation over my meeting table continued. We'd been sitting here for about an hour going over everything that had come up since our last meeting, and now everyone was getting into heated debates over who should be brought in dead or alive or just fucking maimed.
Not bothering to cut in, I took out my phone and checked the time. Nine thirty-eight p.m.
"Boss, do you think..."
"Don't care." I spoke before I looked up, sliding my phone back into my pocket. "Sort it out."
The intern looked away, very quickly shutting his mouth and going beet red. I leaned back in my chair, watching the chaos that these meetings always descended into by the end. As I sat there, the door opened and shut. I glanced over, and the room hushed for a half second before picking back up in noise.
I smiled a little to myself, letting my eyes slide up and down the frame clad in a deep red dress. She had little kitten heels on her feet, and her hair was sculped into its regular luscious waves. No one looked over as Taylor walked over from the door, shoes tapping with each step. They knew they didn't look at her unless they had a reason to.
"Hey, girly, we're trying to have a meeting here." One of the new interns snapped at her, and I turned to him with my eyebrows raised. Everyone fell silent. The intern blinked, realizing he'd probably fucked up.
"I thought you'd taught your employees some respect baby." Taylor tutted, gracefully moving to sit in my lap and shaking her hair out over her shoulders.
"I was under the impression that I had." I murmured, my hand automatically snaking around her back to grab her waist, pull her closer. "Stand up." I jerked my chin at the intern. I hadn't learned his name, and now I'd never have to. He flushed, scrambling to his feet. "Would someone care to explain what this young man has done wrong?" I asked the room. No one spoke, so I pointed at the person who'd been sitting next to the intern. "You."
"Umm." She flushed, looking up at the intern who very much looked like he wanted to die. "That's...that's the boss' wife."
The intern went pale. Taylor giggled, leaning in to press a kiss to my lips, soft and lingering for a few seconds. I let the silence stretch, let the intern stew in his discomfort, and then I flicked my hand towards the door.
"Out." I demanded. "You're fired."
He practically ran for the door.
"Maybe I need to come in and teach your little employees some respect for you baby." Taylor murmured in my ear, playing with the collar of my shirt. "And you can focus more on running the company."
"Yeah you'd like that wouldn't you pretty girl?" I asked, and she grinned.
The conversation in the room continued as the awkwardness lifted, and I turned to meet the gaze of the woman perched in my lap. She smiled cutely, leaning in to pepper little kisses against my lips. I tucked my fingers under her chin, holding her there as long as I could.
"Finish your meeting." Taylor murmured when she pulled away. "I'm bored of waiting."
"We're not quite done pretty girl." I told her, and her bottom lip pushed out into a pout.
