The Tonight Show - 14 February 2025
Taylor's POV

"Check check." I said into the mic. "Working all good?"

"Working!" The sound guy gave me a thumbs up with a cheery smile. "Thanks Taylor."

I smiled back, moving away so they could keep setting up. I was a little nervous for some reason; this was my first time performing after the end of the eras tour. It was Valentines Day, and I couldn't wait to debut what I was doing tonight. Reputation (Taylor's Version) had come out less than twenty-four hours ago, and it was a little different than my normal re-records.

I had the songs from the original album and I had the vault tracks, but I had one thing that was different. On this album, there was one song that was neither an original nor a vault song. It was called Toucher, and I'd written it a few months ago. I'd told myself I wouldn't write new songs for old albums, but my version of Reputation hadn't felt right without it.

So I'd titled it Toucher (Outside The Vault) and named it a lead single. It was a song about Travis and I, and I loved it. It felt so perfect to have a song about my fiancé on this album.

"Hey baby, I got some food if you're hungry." Travis smiled when I came into my dressing room where he was waiting for me, boxes of sushi on the little table.

"Oh you are amazing." I sighed, dropping into his lap and wrapping my arms around his neck.

"How'd rehearsal go?"

"Good." I kissed him lightly. "They're just finishing set up so I've got some time."

"Good." Travis smiled. "I'm so proud of you baby, you know that."

"I love you." I whispered, pecking his lips lightly. "I can't wait to sing your song out there." I told him, and Travis smiled even wider, his hands tightening on my waist.

"I can't wait to hear you sing it." He murmured.

We didn't have a whole lot of time so I quickly ate something before going to hair and makeup. They kept it simple, just makeup to keep me looking good under a spotlight, along with a striking red lip. My hair was blown out into thick, luscious waves, and then I went to costume. My outfit for tonight was inspired by one of Sabrina's tour outfits, except mine had covered sleeves. Similar to one I'd performed in before, except this time it wasn't all the way up my neck. The catsuit I wore was full length but dipped down my chest in a V, teasing. I also wore black heeled shoes with deep red soles, and I had a black feather boa to start the song with.

Once I was dressed, I stood still while tech clipped my mic pack onto my outfit. I tucked my in-ears in just to make sure they were still perfect, and then I took them out again and let them hand over my collarbones. There was still a few minutes before I was due anywhere, so I wandered back to my dressing room to check my phone.

Travis was gone, since he would already be in the audience or something. So once I'd checked my phone, I went off backstage to wait until I was needed. I murmured the lyrics to myself as I waited, and soon someone gave me my dark grey bedazzled microphone, so I tossed it between my hands, a little nervous. This song had shot off the charts, the most popular one, but I knew there was controversy about the fact that it wasn't technically a real vault song. Some people loved the fact I'd written it about Travis recently, and others hated the change from other re-records. But I did what I wanted, so I took a breath and told myself it would be fine.

"And tonight, for your special Valentine's Day performance..." I heard Jimmy start to introduce me, and I moved into position. They'd put up a false background in front of the original one behind Jimmy's desk, so I would be revealed there. "Ladies and gentleman, the one and only...Taylor Swift."
