i am beyond heartbroken that the eras tour is coming to an end, but at the same time, i think it's the right place to wrap up this era that we have shared with taylor. the last two ish years have brought me the best friends through my love for taylor, and it's been unforgettable. so while i'll miss this tour with all my heart and regret that i never saw it live myself, it's time for a new era. i'll add one more 'last show' one shot to the piles probably being written, i hope you enjoy

Travis' POV

"And I'm sorry for calling you so late." Taylor's voice hiccupped with a sob as I listened to her voicemail. "I'm just...god it's so hard." She sniffed, pausing to collect herself.

Normally I had my phone on just for when Taylor needed me, but last night I'd forgotten to charge it and I'd been so busy. When I'd woken up and plugged it in, I'd found that she'd tried to call me and I'd missed it. Listening to her voicemail broke my heart.

"I mean I knew how hard this was going to be." Taylor choked down the phone. "And my parents are here and so many of my friends to support me but it's just not the same without you." I closed my eyes, hating that she was so upset. "I know it's not your fault that you can't be here and I don't want you to be here because you have so much important stuff to do over there but...maybe call me when you're up?" She sniffed. "Yeah. I love you, bye."

I let out a breath, trying not to cry as my phone beeped. Taking it away from my ear, I placed it down and wiped my eyes, glancing over towards the doors. I'd just arrived to training for the game tomorrow and was still outside, but now I couldn't go in.

Taylor and I had talked a lot about these few days. Her end date for the tour had been set long before her and I had even met, so it wasn't her fault or my fault that it overlapped with a game I was supposed to play. She had a place to be, and so did I. It was hard, but we'd agreed that we wouldn't let our relationship get in the way of our career.

"Travis!" I heard my name and looked up to see Andy coming outside. "You okay son?" He asked, walking over.

"Yeah." I cleared my throat, hiking my bag higher.

"Hey." Andy easily picked that something was wrong, producing a tissue from his pocket. "What's going on?"

"Just..." I wiped my eyes. "I missed a call from Taylor last night. She's really having a hard time and..."

"So go." Andy cut me off, making me blink.

"I can't." I stated. "The game."

"Travis." Andy laughed at me, shaking his head. "You were never scheduled to play tomorrow. I knew you'd take off to be there for your girl, so I didn't put you in the game. She needs you."

"Really?" I almost broke down crying. Andy nodded.

"So go." He urged. "And text us when you get there so we know everything's okay. We'll be cheering her on."

I nodded, and Andy smiled proudly at me as I turned back to my car. Of course he'd know not to put me in the game. I was always going to be with Taylor on her last night of the Eras Tour. We'd planned otherwise, but there was no way I was letting her perform that last show without me there.

My heart racing, I drove back home and packed a small suitcase. I called the airport as I packed to organize a flight, and I managed to get myself one that would get me to Vancouver at six in the morning. If all went well, I could get an uber to Taylor's hotel and be there before she left for the day. She'd be doing a lot to keep her mind busy and I wanted to catch her where we could have some time alone. But I also wanted to surprise her, so I just texted Tree to tell her I was coming. She was quick to reply, telling me which hotel Taylor was at and to give my name at the front desk and they'd give me a key to her room. Texting back to thank her, I shoved my phone in my pocket and headed for the door.
