Two hours later
Taylor's POV

"How's the pain honey?" The nurse asked when she came in to check on me.

"Mhm." I forced my eyes open, looking over to see her glancing at my vitals. "Fine."

Travis had called an ambulance as soon as he could, and we'd been brought to the hospital. Once the doctors had cut the umbilical cord and I'd passed the placenta, I'd been offered some painkillers and a checkup to see how my body was doing. I'd accepted it, and I was absolutely shattered, but I felt better.

They'd cleaned up our baby girl and taken her for her newborn hearing test, so I'd made Travis go with her. She was only just born and I felt safer knowing one of us was there with her. I was fine resting by myself, and Travis had wavered, but gone with our daughter when I'd pushed. He understood.

"Good." The nurse smiled at me. "Now we want to keep you guys overnight just to keep an eye on things, does that sound alright? You'll be discharged sometime tomorrow."

"Yeah, yeah that's fine." I mumbled, fighting to stay awake. The nurse gave me a sympathetic smile.

"I'll dim the lights for you honey, get some sleep while you can."

I nodded tiredly, my eyes slipping closed as the nurse left, the lights dimming a little. My body was broken and sore beyond belief. Every part of me ached, but my heart was so full. We had our beautiful baby girl, and our family felt so whole.

I fell asleep immediately.

When I woke up, I could tell it wasn't that much later. I lifted my head, eyes blurry.

"Hey there sweetie." My husband's familiar voice reached my ears, and I felt his touch against my cheek, tucking some hair away.

"Hi." I sighed, blinking a few times to clear my vision. Travis was sitting next to my bed, a hospital cot in front of him. Craning my neck, I smiled when I saw a little wrapped bundle of blankets inside. "How is she?" I croaked, my throat dry.

"She's perfect." Travis whispered, reaching around and handing me a paper cup of water. I took it gratefully, taking mouthfuls until it was empty. "All healthy, cleaned up, and sweetie, she's beautiful." Travis took the cup and put it aside before taking my hand. "She looks just like you."

"Really?" A small smile tugged at my lips. Travis nodded.

"I'd say she was your twin."

"What color are her eyes?" I asked.

"I don't know." My husband shook his head. "She fell asleep right after they cleaned her up and I didn't see. I thought I'd wait until you could see with me."

I nodded, smiling to myself as he stroked the back of my hand. My eyes were unable to move from my baby where she slept in the little cot. She was just so tiny, so precious.

"Do you need anything sweetie, how are you feeling?" Travis asked, pulling my attention to him.

"I'm kind of sore, but the meds are helping." I yawned, rubbing my eyes. "And my boobs are killing me." I winced, suddenly aware of the ache in my chest. Travis nodded.

"It'll just be because your body is ready to feed her." He told me.

"Right." I hummed, leaning my head back.
