Drew's POV
"Do you really think I can do this Drew?" Taylor asked nervously from the backseat of the car. We'd been sitting there for about twenty minutes outside her house, and I'd been waiting for her to decide to tell me we could go now.
"It's not about what I think." I told her where I was half turned around in my seat.
She'd kind of been talking to me about this whole situation with the guy she'd met since I was just always around her. Taylor and I spent a lot of time together, and I knew she was excited about meeting this guy. Travis seemed nice; I hadn't met him yet, but from what I'd heard, Taylor was smitten. He seemed good to her.
I'd heard about Travis the day of the podcast dropping. Well, I'd actually known about the night he'd tried to give Taylor a bracelet through the security grapevine, but hadn't thought much of it since a lot of people wanted to meet Taylor. This guy though, he stood out when I saw the episode of his podcast. I was so glad Taylor had reached out to him after a little while of being unsure.
After a few weeks of texting, they'd made time in their schedules to meet up, and Travis had wasted no time in asking Taylor on a date. She'd nervously agreed, and now the day was here and I'd been about to drive her to the restaurant when she'd freaked out a little. We'd been sat here talking for a while, but that was okay because Taylor was chronically early to everything, so we'd still be on time even if we didn't leave for a few mote minutes.
"What if he doesn't like me?" Taylor asked, moving her hand up to her lips.
"Don't bite your nails." I reminded her gently, and she sighed, dropping it back into her lap. "Look." I told her. "I think it's pretty obvious that he likes you. And you like him right?"
"Mhm." Taylor nodded. "But..."
"No buts." I told her, and she pressed her lips together with a little smile. "Going on one date isn't like you're marrying him. Just make sure he knows where you stand on this if he doesn't already, and have a good time. If you need me to get you out of there, send me a text and I'll make up an emergency. You know I will." I shot her a wink to make her laugh. It worked.
"Okay." Taylor agreed, smiling a little. "Okay, yeah. Let's go."
I smiled back, and Taylor nodded, seeming a little surer about this now. I knew her really well, so I knew she was nervous, but I also knew this was the right thing for her to do. Taylor had taken a lot of time for herself after Joe, who honestly, I'd known was bad for her in the last few years of their relationship. But this Travis, he'd shown Taylor that he did want to know her properly, and from what I knew, he treated her incredibly well.
I drove Taylor to the restaurant she'd agreed to meet Travis at, which he'd called ahead and organized the date. He'd put in so much effort to make this safe for Taylor, since of course, she was a very popular face and could attract crowds. Travis had offered to pick Taylor up, but she'd politely refused for now. She'd told him it was because he wasn't familiar with her security protocol yet, but the main reason was so I could be there to take her home if things went wrong. She was just anxious.
"He's texted me." Taylor whispered as I turned onto the street where the restaurant was. "That he's inside. He wants to know if he should meet me at the car so he can walk me in."
"That's your choice." I told her. "If you want me to walk you in, I can, and I can either stay somewhere in the restaurant or come back to the car. Just do what makes you feel comfortable."
"Umm." Taylor paused, and I smiled to myself. It was sweet that she was nervous, almost like a teenage girl with her first romance. "I'll say he can meet me at the car..." She leaned forwards.. "And maybe you can walk us in?"
