Taylor's POV
I frowned, checking my phone again as the car weaved through the streets of Kansas City, taking me closer by the minute to the man I so desperately wanted to see. Travis and I hadn't seen each other in a few weeks since our schedules had been so busy, and I'd originally planned to fly in tomorrow, but I'd managed to get away from New York earlier. I'd texted him asking if he was home, but I hadn't heard back.
I did have a spare key though, so if Travis really wasn't home, I was able to let myself in and wait inside to surprise him. This would be the first 'surprise' visit of our relationship, which was still kind of new, but we were well settled into life with each other now. I loved being with him.
"Okay, you all good from here Taylor?" Drew asked as he pulled up to the gates of Travis' house, which were open. I nodded, waiting until he'd stopped the car just inside before gathering up my things. "You know where I'll be if you need anything."
"I know, I'll be fine." I rolled my eyes at him like he was an endearingly overprotective brother, and got a sigh in response. "Thank you." I whispered, leaning forwards to nudge his shoulder.
"Go on." Drew shook his head fondly at me.
I grinned, making sure I had everything before shuffling over to the door and getting out of the car. I knew Drew would stay parked there until I was safely inside, so I set off, duffel bag over my shoulder. Travis' car was in the driveway and I smiled to myself, knowing he'd be home. I couldn't wait to surprise him.
Checking the door, I turned the handle and let myself in, closing it very quietly behind me. Immediately, I realized that there were a lot of voices coming from the living room and paused, unsure. Some of the voices sounded slightly familiar though, so I slipped off my shoes and put my bags down before walking slowly down the hallway. My heart was pounding as I second guessed myself, but I was already here, so I might as well.
But then I heard Travis' laugh, and that relaxed me. I smiled to myself, lifting my head as I walked around the corner into the living room.
Travis was sitting on the couch with a bunch of guys I recognized from watching his games online as his teammates, all of them with some kind of drink, snacks on the coffee table, conversations overlapping across the room. His head lifted, and then I watched as his eyes went wide at the sight of me. Everyone looked over, and I'd never heard a room go silent so quickly.
"Oh my god, hi!" Travis breathed, a shocked laugh leaving his lips.
"Hi." I whispered nervously.
"Hi!" He got up, putting his drink down and rushing around the couch. "God baby, I thought you weren't coming until tomorrow!" Travis said as he scooped me up into his arms, lifting my feet off the ground as he hugged me close. "Hi." He whispered into my neck.
"Hi." I giggled.
"Okay what the hell?" Someone asked.
"Nah, there's no way."
"Is that...?"
"I didn't know you had company." I admitted as Travis set me down.
"They can watch and gawk baby." He murmured, taking my face in his hands and pulling me into a long, sweet kiss that left my head spinning. "I missed you." Travis breathed against my lips, holding me close.
