Kai could see the carriage. He was almost there. The only person in sight was Ran who was tending to the horses. The carriage itself only needed one horse but Kai had uncle Ran attach two because he knew how strong and fast the army horses were. Minda's family horses were bred more for beauty and spent most days lazily roaming the field or used for occasional slower paced traveling by his family in the past. Nothing like the high intensity work the army horses had to do."Almost..."
"Little Tiger, congratulations on not over sleeping." General Lei suddenly shouted from behind him. Kai didn't even turn to look at him. His pace quickened into almost a run. He needed to hide his easily flustered Minda before General Lei could make an insensitive or perverted remark.
"Why are you running?" General Lei asked with a chuckle. His own pace quickening out of interest.
"Kai?" Minda whispered in a hoarse voice when he noticed how fast they were moving. Kai couldn't answer him. He had to hide Minda away inside the carriage quick. Luckily the carriage door was already open and Kai could swiftly place Minda inside.
"I'll go talk with the General. Stay here." Kai said before giving him a quick peck on the forehead and slamming the door closed behind him.
"What's with the mad dash? Are you trying to hide something from me? You should have learned long ago you can't hide anything from me." General Lei asked with a playful grin.
"Shut up. I'm not hiding anything. I just don't want to deal with you this early in the morning." Kai said as he tried to block General Lei from getting closer to the carriage.
"Is it early or did you not get any sleep last night?"
"None of your business. What do you want?" Kai said trying to avoid the question.
"I need to talk to both you and your little soulmate. Is he presentable?" General Lei said.
"He's sleeping." Kai blatantly lied as he stared at the General.
"Really? How strange. I could swear I heard him talking just now."
"Sleep talk."
"Don't lie to me boy."
"Don't disturb my husband." Kai stated in a serious voice.
He stepped towards General Lei in an attempt to move him away from the carriage. General Lei however was having too much fun teasing Kai and refused to move. Luckily Auntie Feifei came to the rescue.
"Sir Kai, may I speak with you. It's concerning the young master's medication. I've prepared it in this kettle and it should remain warm for a few hours. Make sure he drinks it before it cools once he wakes up." She interrupted.
"Thank you. I'll make sure he takes his medication." Kai said as he took the hot kettle. General Lei looked at Auntie Feifei with some respect. However he wasn't ready to give up on teasing Kai just yet.
"Let's..."
"General stop playing around. Everyone is waiting." Sir said.
"Tch!" General Lei looked back and clicked his tongue at the sight of Sir walking out of the estate carrying a large crate basket of freshly made food Auntie Feifei had made everyone for the road. Sir nearly shoved the basket over to General Lei. He then turned to face Kai.
"Kai, are you ready to leave?" Sir asked.
"We have a few things to load on the carriage but we should be ready to leave within the next five minutes." Kai said.
"We'll be waiting at the base of the mountain. When joining the caravan your carriage will be in the middle position behind my carriage and in front of the cart Daniu is driving." Sir explained.
