As Minda laughed and enjoyed listening to the two of them bicker Auntie Feifei appeared with large stacked trays of food. Minda didn't have much appetite but still welcomed the sight. Seeing the food he was reminded of the soldiers that would have left the estate at dawn.

"Did you prepare some food for the soldiers this morning?" Minda asked Auntie Feifei.

"I prepared a hearty meal for them and rations for the road before they left at dawn. They should have plenty to eat." Auntie Feifei responded.

Minda looked at Kai thinking maybe he should have gone after all. The soldiers apparently knew who he was so there would be no reason to not go.

"Kai, if you take one of the horses you can probably catch up to the others." Minda suggested.

"I'd rather stay here."

"Why? I'm sure going hunting with everyone will be a lot of fun." Minda insisted but Kai wasn't interested.

"I'm staying here with you."

"Why? We can barely spend any time alone with all these strangers around. Whether you go or not I won't be getting any sleep." Minda said.

"That's not true. Tonight we're sleeping together."

"Sir Kai!" Auntie Feifei loudly whispered to remind him that he needed to watch his words in front of the General.

"Don't mind me. I have no interest in spreading rumours." General Lei said as he took a sip of bone broth soup.

"We still have to be careful because of the sisters and construction workers." Minda said.

"They won't be a problem. I'll wait until they are gone to go into your room." Kai said.

"Will that work?" Minda asked while looking at Auntie Feifei.

She looked incredibly uncomfortable with the situation. Even so she couldn't force Kai and Minda to sleep apart. Especially when she knew how difficult it was for Minda to sleep without him. After giving it some thought she thought of a solution.

"I'll have the sisters come later in the day and leave immediately after dinner." She suggested.

"We'll have to wake up early but it's better than not sleeping at all. Could you have them leave early starting tonight?" Minda said.

"Certainly, I will go inform them now." She said. With everything decided Auntie Feifei excused herself and left them to enjoy their breakfast.

...

"You've got yourself a strong willed servant." General Lei remarked.

"She is and I'm very grateful for her help. She knows a lot about what a noble should or shouldn't do and has taught me a lot. Without her, Syaoran, and Ran I wouldn't know what to do." Minda honestly admitted.

Kai had to agree with Minda. He was taught proper etiquette and dealt with many nobles over the years but none of that mattered in the army so he wouldn't be able to deal with the finer details that Feifei had been handling for Minda. Once they started traveling he had no intention of revealing Minda's noble status. He planned to pretend they were merchants or something instead so they could avoid the added hassle.

"Do you plan on always relying on others?" General Lei commented in a harsh tone. Kai immediately glared at the General and was ready to defend Minda.

"No, I don't want to rely on others." Minda said. He wanted to sound confident and self-assured but Kai and the General could hear a slight tremble in his voice.

Kick*

Angry with the General for upsetting Minda Kai kicked him under the table. It wasn't that hard but it left the General flabbergasted.
