"Good. Now that we got that out of the way we need to talk about your upcoming wedding." General Lei said.
"What do you mean?" Kai wondered when General Lei's tone dropped and he gave him a serious look.
"Are you sure you want to marry that boy Minda?"
"Of course. He's my other half." Kai said finding his question odd.
"Then you need to know the truth about him." General Lei said. Kai didn't know what the General could possibly say next. Wondering what he knew about Minda Kai leaned forward curiously.
"What do you know about the Chen family and Minda's childhood?" General Lei asked.
"Minda likes to tell me stories about his childhood but they sound like terrible people. His family basically kept him hidden away in the house ignorant to the real world." Kai criticized.
"Don't hate them too much. The Chen family had no choice but to keep him away from other nobles." General Lei revealed.
"What do you mean?" Kai asked. He knew there must be a reason Minda was treated differently within his family but he could never figure out why.
"This would be easier to explain if you knew the Chen family." General Lei sighed.
"General." Kai urged him to stop grumbling and start explaining the truth.
"Think of what that soulmate of yours looks like." General Lei said.
"Easy."
Kai closed his eyes and without any effort at all he could perfectly picture Minda in his mind. His long silvery grey hair that felt like silk. His long eyelashes that flutter like a beautiful butterfly landing on a pure white flower. Even the way his nose crinkles slightly when he feels shy. His skin as soft as cotton and delicate and curved features. Kai could imagine them all within seconds.
Bam*
"Stop picturing him with rose coloured glasses and think about who he resembles." General Lei demanded feeling annoyed by Kai's lovestruck grin.
"There's no one as perfect as him."
"Think again."
"I have. I've never met his family so there is no one to compare him to." Kai retorted.
Smack*
"Don't talk back to me like that!"
"Who's talking back? I'm only telling you the truth. Unless..." Kai's eyes narrowed suspiciously as he stared at the General and examined his face.
"It ain't me, you fool!" The General said when he noticed Kai's gaze.
"Then who the hell am I supposed to compare him to?" Kai questioned.
"The Emperor. You've known him since you were a kid. Can't you see the resemblance?" General Lei finally revealed.
"The Emperor... you mean Prince Ryusong?" Kai didn't expect General Lei to mention the First Prince, now Emperor Ryusong. He tried to think back to the Emperor's appearance. He was always on the thinner side despite training in martial arts with skin that always seemed pale and delicate features.
"I guess they do resemble each other a little, but Minda is a thousand times better looking than that man." Kai concluded.
"Are you trying to tell me Minda is the Emperor's brother?"
"Not his brother, his son." General Lei said.
"Impossible Minda is seventeen and the Prince isn't even thirty years old. He can't be the father."
